Disney Visa Rewards ?

I'm hoping someone can tell me of their experience with the rewards. I am particularly concerned about when I should call to get my rewards card. I only have about $200 that will be available to me - so I would like to wait as long as I can to get the most reward dollars possible... however, I don't want to wait so long as to not get the rewards card before I leave.

Anyone have any experience with this?

We requested our rewards card about a month and 1/2 before our trip. I think we got the card in the mail in about 2 weeks. Once you have the card, you can transfer your rewards to the card immediately. Just watch expirations, which you will be notified of.

We love our rewards! And $200 is a lot!

dont forget the minimum to transfer is $20. I saw someone else say the just got the initial card with $20 then transferred the rest onto it later.

We also got our card in the mail within about 2 weeks of ordering it. You can transfer your rewards money onto the card once you have it...so you can keep doing that up until you leave for your trip.

You can put your $200 on it now, and then if you earn more rewards money before you go...just transfer it on right before you leave.

Have fun! The rewards card was super easy to use...hotel food court, MK restaurant, gift shop, anywhere they take visa

When you first request your card, you have to have at least $20. After you've received your card and want to add more, you have to have at least $10.

The last two times I've gotten the rewards card, I just waited until we got to WDW. Go to Downtown Disney to guest services. They'll have an envelope with a card in it and then you can use the courtesy phone right there to call Chase/Visa. You'll give them the reward card number and your account number, they'll ask if you want all your reward points put on the card (like anyone says no) and they'll be on your card. I did this one time in the middle of the afternoon and the last time it was about 11:00 p.m. on our first day there. There is no chance you won't get all the points available this way. Some people think it's a hassle, but we almost always go to DTD on our first or second day at the World, so it fits right in for us.

Another thing I made sure to do was change my billing period so that it would end right before I left for my trip this week. My old period ended on the 23rd of the month. That meant I had practically three weeks of purchases that I would not be able to use. I called them up and they changed it to the 15th. I leave on saturday and after saving since day 1 I will have a little over $1700.00! I'm soooo excited about that as I am always looking for ways to save some $$$.

I think ours took about 2 weeks too - you can always add money to it once you are there with just a phone call. I like the idea of changing your billing cycle - I may do that next time!!

I called about 3 weeks before our trip. I got my card about 3-4 days later. More than enough time for my trip.

I used my rewards at the crystal store on Main St. I bought a BEAUTIFUL crystal Cinderella castle. I'm so proud of it!!

We're going in Nov and we want to use our rewards to pay for some of our hotel. When should I request the card? And how do I use that to pay for the hotel over the phone ahead of time?

Wow, $1700 !! That is awesome. We hope to have $1000 when we go in Feb. '06. We have been putting everything we can on that one card, including DD's monthly braces payment! Last time down we had around $400 which we applied directly to our hotel bill upon check in.

I usually wait until the billing cycle right before our trip. They won't post any dollars incurred after this. So, if your trip is July 15th and your billing cycled ended June 30, they won't give you dollars for purchases you made between the 30th and the 15th, so plan accordingly.

I also transfer via the website. This way I have a record of the transfer, although I've never had any problems.

I just ordered my first rewards card for $39, and was really hoping by the time I'd go, I'd get 40. When I get the card, and if I earn even just 1 more point by the time I go on my trip, would I be able to transfer it to the card and make 40?

I got a disney visa last year...and used it alot...i am unsure about how the rewards thing works...would my rewards be listed on my statement...and from what i am reading you call and have the rewards put on my card...is that correct.....at the time i just got the card to get the visa discount and did not really look into the reward part...but I problably have some built up.....................any info would be greatly apprieticated...thanks..amy

When I ordered mine I just put the $20 that are required on it. Then at the end of the billing period before our trip (which happened to be 1 week before we went) I transfered the rest. If I remeber correctly when I transfered them from the website they were immediatly available. So you could do it the night before you leave.

Just curious, for $1700 diz dollars you need to charge $170,000 on stuff. What on earth did you charge that costs $170,000 and how do I it too??????

If you want to pay for it ahead of time you need to order your card a few weeks before you want to pay. Then call the # on your confirmation and tell them you want to pay with your rewards card. It's like paying with a credit card.

If you use all of your rewards dollars - hang on to the card anyway. You can transfer add'l dollars earned between paying for the hotel and your trip right before you go.

sanapunk - you can't transfer just $1. It has to be at least $10. I always transfer all but $10 when I order my card a few weeks before my trip. Then the night before the trip I call and have any balance still on the card - the $10 I left plus what I earned since getting my card - transferred.

You can get bonus dollars for some things! I had $269 this last trip - which was less then a year from my previous trip when I got all my reward dollars. I DID NOT charge $26,900 in that time!
