Hey everyone!!

Just signed up for the Disney Visa to actually get something for the dollars we charge. However, I'm not really clear as to what the Rewards can be used for. We're going to WDW in December and I was hoping to use them for meals/snacks and/or souveniers. The man on the phone who was processing my card couldn't really explain their use. I just need some clarification. :confused3

Thanks everyone!

We use the reward dollars when we are in WDW. We charge whatever is not covered on the dining plan to our room, than at the end of our stay we use the rewards dollars to pay for everything.

You can use the reward dollars at any disney store including their website. You can use it to pay for your hotel, some restaurants and some of the disney stores at the park. I think if you google disney visa rewards, it will direct you to their website, where there should be a list of what restaurants and stores take it. We don't like to bother with what restaurants and stores that take it. That's wht we charge things back to our room and use the reward dollars to pay for it. hth

Last trip I went to DTD to get a Disney Rewards Card and have my Disney Reward Dollars transferred to it - it's like a recharable gift card - then went shopping in DTD. I had like $79 to use on Christmas shopping!

I just signed up for extra rewards too, I'll earn 5x the reward dollars on purchases over $250 for the next few months on gas, dining, and groceries - woo-hoo!

Also! You get discounts on various things too - like tours and a special character meet-n-greet in Epcot. There are also disney Visa card holder pins you can purchase in DTD.

How funny, i just came on here to post a question about this myself!
I have a pamphlet from the credit card and it says free stroller rental, but when I went to the listed website to inquire about that, it doesn't list it :confused3
Anyway, here is the site I have for the rewards.

www.disneyrewards.com/themeparkbenefits

I am going to call now and ask about it.

Hi,
Please let us know what they say about stroller rentals. Does anyone know how far in advance I should order my rewards card for our trip in 10/08?
Thanks
MK

wow, thanks for this thread. I was under the assumption that every restaurant at disney would take the disney visa points.... now I need to go back and look over our dining reservations.

DH and I will probably have around 200 points give or take and I wanted to use most of that on eating since neither he nor I are big into buying souveineers. (sp). thanks again! :thumbsup2

Basically all the Disney owned restaurants take the rewards card. Rain Forest Cafe for instance does not because it's not owned by Disney.

I buy all of my Disney souvenirs with my rewards points, and I've also used it for some meals as well. I've never had a problem using these points for anything at Disney.

We recently used our rewards to MVMCP tickets....so, I would assume that you can also buy park tickets, etc. with it.

We've used our rewards for dining, shopping, tickets and hotel charges.

Thats GREAT you got the 5x, I actually called them and asked WHY I hardly ever get "extra" rewards, they responded with a form letter saying it is a marketing program. The LAST time I got one they wanted me to spend OVER $1500.00 for Xtra to kick in, ???? CRAZY. Needless to say that was no go. I realize now that my regular spending is quite highly monthly and I really think I AM being penalized for that. They just don't bother to offer to Big spenders, rather try to get smaller accounts to increase. Disappointing actually!

Does anyone know how long you can allow the awards to accrue?

I've used my rewards "dollars" all over WDW. I've paid for hotels, meals, souveniers, mickey bars, earrings, pearls in Epcot, park tickets...every place at WDW, and World of Disney (?the bigbigbig disney store at DTD) and the Disney christmas shop at DTD, have taken my rewards points. Of course, I never have enough points! There are places at WDW that give Disney VISA cardholders discounts when using the credit card (World of Disney, some of the park tours) so I charge these, so I get the discounted price AND earn more points.

It takes about 1-2 weeks to get the rewards card. You have to order it from Chase (you can do it online) and transfer a minimum of 20 points if it's your first card, 10 points on subsequent cards. You will get a card similar to a credit card, with a magnetic stripe on the back. When you purchase something you want to pay for with points, the clerk (waitress, whoever) will swipe the card just like with a credit card. Your receipt will tell you the remaining balance. If you find you haven't transferred enough points, you can do it online, and as long as you already have a rewards card the points transfer almost immediately. One word of warning; the rewards card expires, I think (check with Chase) at the end of Dec in the year AFTER you order it. I just ordered a card for my trip at the end of August 2008; it will expire in Dec 2009, I think. When the card expires, any points on it are gone also :scared1: so don't transfer more than you think you will use!

I have over 700 points on my card, just waiting for my trip to WDW in August. They will pay the balance on my room-only ressie and for most of our meals (just me and DD). DH and I charge everything (gas, food, purchases, heating oil!!!, etc) and pay the balance in full every month. No interest charges, "money" back for WDW  ! How can that be bad?

I also found this on Chase's Disney Rewards site just in case you didn't/couldn't order your rewards card in time for your trip....

Missed the chance to order a Disney Rewards® Card before your trip?
If you have at least 20 Disney Dream Reward Dollars®3 in your account, you can get a Disney Rewards Card issued at these guest relations areas:

Downtown Disney® Marketplace
Downtown Disney® Westside
Magic Kingdom® Guest Relations Window
Magic Kingdom® Guest Relations at City Hall

Be sure to bring your Disney Rewards Visa Card and a valid photo I.D.

:wizard: Hope this helps.....

You get Disney Dollars from using your card. We have two at my house, and we use them to rake in the Disney dough. They can be used for everything at Disney, from dining to resorts, and even ice creams on the go!

I just used it to pay for our WDW vacation...gave the number of the card over the phone just like a credit card and the amount and poof...that amount is credited toward your vacation.

I hope you don't mind if I butt in on this thread but I have also been considering the Disney VISA (for like 2 years :rolleyes1 )! Anyway I have a related question: can you pay on-line direct from your checking account? I hate, hate, hate writing/mailing checks and I also like being able to check my account as many times a month, or a day as I wish. I checked their website thoroughly a couple of months ago and did not see anything to answer this. Thanks and maybe this will finally make up my mind. :yay:
