I just got the mail and what a nice surprise, a new Rewards Promotion. Earn 5X Disney Dream Reward Dollars from 10/1/09 - 12/31/09 on dining, gas, groceries, and airline purchases.

Its like free money towards my next vacation. Anyone else get these recently?

I got the same one today. :yay: So glad, and it goes through the holidays 10/1-12/31. :thumbsup2

I just applied for a Disney Visa and it finally arrived last week. Does everyone get 5% back for those items? Or is it just if you have been notified?

Thanks!

I did not get this:confused3 is this like a Disney "code" or can I call and get it? I use my card for EVERYTHING including my monthly bills; how sweet would 5% be.

I am wondering the same. I want 5% back, even if it is only for 3 months!

I am sure they have a method to their offers, but you can't control it. We got this deal from April-August, but haven't gotten this new one.

There have been many times that I have seen people post that they received a promo offer from Chase to earn extra points that I did not receive. My sister got one last year to earn 3x on groceries for 3 months and I did not get it. It is a random selection of customers. How do I know this? I called Chase and asked them and that is what they told me. I just happen to be one of the lucky ones this time! Yay!:woohoo::yay:

Also, you should all know that there is some "fine print" and that it is not all that it seems to be. It is only on groceries, gas, dining, and airline tickets and the 5% is only after the first $1000 spent per month on these items. So yes, still better than the 1% but not really as good as it sounds. There is also a maximum of 200 points earned during the promo period. I am still happy to earn any extra points. It puts me closer to my next vacation!

The two that we got are on any purchase, not just gas, dining and such. Every one prior to this one that we have gotten has said that, but this one is on EVERY purchase over 750.00. It is awesome. I had to call and make sure it was right. The only thing is, will won't get credited for these extra rewards until after we get home from Disney!

I hate to be a killjoy, but just remember this promo comes with a lot of qualifications. We have had this promo several times now and yes 5X is always better than 1X, but you really have to work at it. First off it is only for purchases in the 4 categories mentioned earlier. And the vendor you buy from has to notify VISA previously as to what category they fit into. And there are lots of exclusions like any purchases from the wholesale clubs. You cannot buy gas from a Walmart as Walmart is not a free standing gas station. Very few vendors classify their sales. There is no list. The only way to see this list is to go to Disney VISA Chase online and look at your statement online. After each vendor purchase showing in brackets is how that store is classifying itself. Trust me, most will say "Other" which unfortunately is not one of the 4 groups. As Michelleiada said also its only on purchases after you hit the 1000.00 mark.

Is it easy. No. Worth it. yes. Its just a little work.

I agree that there are certainly loop holes! I hardly ever charged anything but once they started doing these promotions, everything went on the card! I pay it off every month which can be painful sometimes! Good for me, bad for them! I'm sure their thought is that people will charge above and beyond what they can handle to get the points and then they will earn the interest on the balances! Not playing that game!

I am happy to report that almost $900 was earned on our rewards card and will be put to good use on our upcoming trip! Made our reservation a little easier to swallow! Charged the rest and got the rewards on that also!

Only disappointment is that this current offer didn't come sooner! Points won't be applied until after our return! Next time!

Is that for the Disney Credit Card or the new Disney Debit Rewards Card from Chase? I just got the new Disney Debit Rewards Card a couple months ago. You earn $1 for every $200 you spend.

I had signed up for the 5X promo they sent me, but when I just checked my account, I realized that most of my purchases are labeled as "other" so I guess nothing counts! That stinks!

In the past we have received this offer with various categories and a $250 threshold amount. This time ALL PURCHASES to specific categories and a limit of $250. Also, our limit on the Bonus amout (the extra 4%) is $200 not $100. This month so far we have made a few large purchases and earned about 70 extra dollars. I'm glad we go it for the Christmas season!!

Has anyone found a grocery store that actually qualifies as groceries? I charged at the A&P and shoprite which are both large grocery stores and they both came up as "other". :confused3

Shop Rite and Pathmark both come up as grocery if you call on the phone. Did you check online or the phone? I haven't had a problem with getting the bonus on either. This time my bonus is for all purchases. I hope it works out. I did charge some items( and already paid them) that I normally don't just to get the extra!!

All the offers aren't the same. Yes, sometimes there are categories and a threshold amount you have to spend on those to get the bonus only on the categories. This time I received no categories and it's for ALL purchases. My threshold is $250. So, I earn the extra 4 times on all my purchases over the $250 per month. You do have so sign up even though you receive the offer. You do have up until the last day (now Dec 31) to sign up and get the bonus for the entire 3 months. The bonus is paid on ACTUAL month, not your statement. You do have to keep track of this to make sure you get the correct bonus. I have done this in the past and have always gotten the right amount. It's easier for me this time due to no categories.

All offers are not the same. While I have gotten the 4 categories you mention in the past I only had a $250 threshold. This offer I just received is for ALL purchases for the bonus over $250 and a maximum bonus amount (the extra 4%) of $200. In the past the max had been $100 for the bonus total you could earn. Sometimes online purchases will say other, but when you call they will be grocery. This has happened to my daughter. When she checked online, the ShopRite grocery store said 'other'. When calling the recording said grocery! We did get the bonus dollars on this store. I know some have had problems especially, like you said at a place like Walmart and Target that sell almost anything. It was a pain last year keeping track when I had the categories (and the bonus is calculated on ACTUAL month 1st til monthend not your statement date) The regular 1% is posted like normal. I keep a running total so I can check for accuracy!

Interesting! I checked online and both were listed as "other". Maybe they are counting after all? I guess time will tell!
