How far in advance ofmy trip do I need to "cash out"for my Visa reward Disney Dollars?

I was always afraid it would get delayed so I ordered about a month ahead (it ALWAYS came within 10 days though).
I would also add any new rewards dollars I could after I received the card

Once you have your Rewards card you can call their 800 # and if points are available they will tranfser them immeidately. We have done this in the car on the way to DL and once even inside DL and used the card a few minutes later. They are fast. The only down side to this is your rewards card will have an expiration date on it so if you are getting close to this date and won't be able to use all the points/dollars be careful.

You can add them online too (just have the card number that your reward points are on ready).

The add on can be done instantly. When we were in WDW in August, we added points during lunch on the phone and then paid the bill using the card.

I may be wrong (if so someone please correct me), but I think to add on to your rewards card after you have already received it you have to do it in $10 increments. If you only have $8 rewards balance you can't transfer to your existing card so it maybe a good idea just to wait until right before your trip.

I just ordered my card with the minimum points($20) eventhough our trip is months away. I'll call the week before we leave and add all the rest of the points to this card. I did it this way so I'd have the card in hand nice and early and I won't have to worry about timing the last statement before I go with getting the card in time for my trip. Also, because I only put $20 on the card, I know that I'll have more than the required minimum to transfer for our trip.

I just got a Disney Visa a few months ago. Can someone please explain exactly how the disney reward dollars work? Does the amount of reward points you have equal the dollar amount? Do you use the card the same as Disney dollars, are they good everywhere in Disney? Thanks in advance for your help, Melissa

Yes, your points equal the dollar amount. The card is good everywhere at wdw that accepts room keys & credit cards - which is almost everywhere. They are very few exceptions - one that I know of is the Kaki Gori stand in Epcot. I had to borrow disney dollars from DD because I didn't see the sign that said they didn't accept room keys, etc.

I always just put the card on my room when I check in. I generally do a room only so I owe when I check in but even when I had a prepaid package I just put the reward card on my room and then charged everything back to the room. I didn't have to keep track of what the balance was on the card.
