This will be my first time using Disney Visa Rewards. I paid the deposit for my October trip with my credit card. I have about $600 in rewards right now that I would like to put towards the rest of the amount due on the package. Should I order the rewards card now and then apply it on the website? And if I do use this as a form of payment, will I get it back if I have to cancel the trip for some reason?

And any other Disney Visa tips would be great. Thanks for the help! :)

I would think if you cancel you'd get a refund but what I'd do is use the rewards on your trip for incidentals like snacks, souvenirs, etc.

We always have way more snacks on the dining credit then we ever use and I don't plan to spend $600+ souvenirs and things we don't need when our house is already full of stuff. I feel that if we don't spend it on the package, we will just waste it on things we don't need while there. Has anyone here ever used it to pay for the package?

I used my rewards to pay for part of my package but I didn't cancel so I don't know how that would work?

I waited until the last day to apply it to my package (45 days out) so at that point, we knew we weren't going to cancel.

I think if you cancel, the money is refunded to your rewards card, so you want to hold onto that rewards card after you apply it to your account, just in case... my only concern would be the rewards card expires after a certain period of time, so you'd want to be sure to use it... If I have to cancel, I plan to reschedule, so I'm not too concerned about it... I haven't applied it to my trip yet, but plan to.

if you charge your trip on the card - you get 6mos no interest - so just let it sit there if you can, then 45 days or whenever the last day to cancel is - you know you most likely WON"T then pay with it! :) Just remember if you get the rewards on a card, they only last so long!!

If you are worried about possibly canceling your trip, I would wait until near when the final payment is due before I paid it off with my Rewards card. As others have said, you might want to save your Rewards card dollars for extras.
