I can't seem to find the specifics online of how the Disney Visa Rewards program works.

How do you earn points?

When can you spend the points you earn - do they accrue at the end of every year or monthly?

Do you get extra points for charging at Disney locations?

Also is there an annual fee?

Thanks! I know you guys would know the answers.

I love the Visa. We pay everything through the card (groceries, car insurance, cable bill, etc.) for convenience and to earn points, but pay it off entirely each month so we don't pay any interest (or get in debt!). You earn 1% on purchases. So if you charge $2,000 in a month, you get 20 points. Each Reward point is equal to $1. So far we have 712 points and are still earning for our trip in November. That is HUGE! We will use it to pay for our package, but you can also use it to pay at Disney restaurants, for park tickets, etc. The points are added onto your statement each month. You get a special card, and then just transfer them to that card to use like a regular debit card when you are ready. You don't get extra points for buying Disney stuff, but if you charge your Disney vacation, there is no interest for 6 months. Also, no annual fee. For me, this card is a no-brainer!

Also, I get TONS of comments on the card when I use it for some reason :):cool1:

I have a Disney Reward Visa too and find it MADDENING to get information about how to redeem my points towards a vacation!:confused3 Where did you find the information on how many points you need to pay for your package? We are planning a trip for 2008 so I have plenty of time to accumulate more points!! Thanks for any help.

You load your points on a rewards card and use the rewards card to pay for your package - each point = $1.00. At least this is how you do it if you book on-line.

I'd be happy to help. All the info about the rewards program comes with the card. But in a nutshell. You earn 1% in purchases only. No transfers, checks, cash advance.
The is no magic # for trips. What you have is actually cash(like disney dollars) that can be used for any Disney venue. ie the Disney stores, online shopping, parks, tickets, hotel, cruise, Disney gift cards

The amount of Disney Dream Reward Dollars is what you have to spend . To access the $ the reward card has to be sent to you which takes 2 weeks. Look at the reward card as a reloadable debit card. Once on the card you HAVE to use them before the expiration on the reward card. Or they will expire as well.
Once transfered they can not go back on the visa. The reward card is a reloadable card so while you continue to make purchases on the visa, those additional DDRD can be transfered to the same card you already have.:goodvibes

Thanks for the answers.

I was hoping to pay for our Disney Cruise on a Disney Visa then use the reward points for our Disneyland trip after the cruise. We would pay the card off immediately out of our vacation fund to avoid the interest.

Is there an annual fee for the card?

Thanks!

No, no annual fee.

Also wanted to add that when we went last May there was a cardmember benefit where you could get a private "meet-n-greet" photo session with some of the characters. (We didn't know ahead of time who, but we got Minnie, Donald and Goofy.) It was at Epcot, but I don't remember which building. (There was a fire safety display near the room. - Maybe someone else can jump in and help?)

It didn't cost anything to get in, just show your Disney Visa card, and you got the characters all to yourself. The "handlers" would take pictures on your photopass and/or your own camera. - When we went, there was only one group ahead of us, so we hardly waited, but we may have just been lucky with that part.

We are paying about 2/3 of our family's Disney Cruise using our Disney Dollars accumulated from our Disney Visa. Don't think I would have been able to talk DH into the cruise without it. We switched to a Disney Visa when our daughter was born, as something to look forward to with her.
At DL (and WDW I presume) you also get free stroller rental when you show your Disney Visa card. Good on replacements too, when your stroller just "walks off". You can do the character meet n greet also - only in the morning.

I just wanted to add that although the rewards may not be the greatest of all the reward credit cards out there. The Disney Visa Rewards are very easy to use. No black out days. You only need 20 reward points to get a reward card so that threshold is easy to acquire. For simplicity in reward programs I give the Disney Visa an A+.
