I am wondering if anyone knows this answer, without me having to call Chase...

Are Disney dollars earned by what the statement ends the month with.. or if you charge something, then pay it off immediately.. does that still count? If that counts, is there any sort of limits how you earn the dollars?

We are able to pay a considerable amount off on our mortgage, and the thought crossed my mind to do it on my Disney Visa in chunks up to my limit, pay it off, charge it, pay it off, ect all within how ever many days it takes for the turnaround of charging, paying, ect.. but it would all be within probably one statement, but the statement would probably be ending with a zero balance for that month.. Would I still get dollars for what I ran through??

You get your rewards at the end if each month. The balance doesn't have to be paid off to get the rewards.

Sorry re-read. I'm not 100% sure how it would work if you charged and paid it off several times within a statement period though. You may have to call them.

You earn points based on what you charge to the card, regardless of when you pay it off. However, you'll want to check with your mortgage company re: paying with a credit card. Most won't let you do that or will charge you a significant fee, which will negate any benefit of paying with a card.

I have paid off our balance several times within the statement period and never seen the reward dollars updated til the next statement. Not entirely sure how it works either but that has been our experience. Hope it helped.

This is correct, you earn the points based on total charges. You could have a closing balance of 0 if you paid it off already, and you would still earn the points for all of the charges made in that month.

I'm what the credit card companies call a "transactor." I pay off each charge I make immediately or by the end of the day at the latest (I know, I'm a weirdo, lol). And yes...I earn all the point even though I never carry a balance. It's based on the amount you charge, not on the balance at the end of the month.

No matter what you buy, you get the reward dollars. I do this all the time. We use the card and pay it off even if its a few days after we purchased and we still get the reward points. I still have the old 1% card, I heard they have 2% now but there is a yearly fee for that one.

Also, you can use it to book a vacation and pay it off intrest free over 6 months and also they have the meet and greet with mickey in epcot where you get a free photo.

It's definitely calculated on your purchase amounts, not the ending balance, BUT I think you'll run into other problems. Either your mortgage company will charge fees to pay by credit card, negating the benefit, or your payments will be processed as a cash advance instead of a purchase (like when you use those blank checks they send with your credit cards) and those won't qualify for Disney reward points.

I'm not sure what's going to stop you, but I'm pretty sure you'll find this won't work for some reason or another.

You earn points based on your purchases, regardless of how much you pay each month. However, points are not available until your statement date each month (if I charge $1000 on the 3rd of the month, I can't access the associated reward points until my statement date of the 21st).

Your charging limit will re-set with each payment, whenever payment is made.

As a note to those who pay off balances throughout the month...IF you are carrying a promotional balance, any "extra" payments or credits are applied directly to the promotional balance and not the regular balance.

Enjoy your vacation!

Whatever you charge to the card (regardless of whether it is paid off or not), you will earn points for those purchases. Usually your rewards balance is updated at the end of the billing cycle.

Well this stinks. I can't pay the mortgage with a credit card.. so I considered going the long route, and paying Western Union payments to be sent to the mortgage, but then I would get hit with Chase considering that cash advances.

The 1% was considerable enough to cover the WU fees, and still make it worth the effort. My next question would be I wonder if I can pay a wire transfer with the Chase card. Would it be considered a cash advance? I guess I may have to call card services to find out.

..... you can't blame a girl for trying.

I would pay the mortgage normally, but use the credit card for all your other expenses, like cable, electric, fuel oil, gasoline etc. Then just pay them off.

I'm doing a payoff, not a normal payment. I would be looking at 700 Disney points if I can figure out a way to do it.

Check the terms of paying your mortgage with a credit card....most times the financial institute will charge you a credit card fee and that will outweigh any rewards earned.

I charge everything, even little purchases of a few dollars, because they all add up to more rewards and I pay the balance in full each payday so in 7 years we haven't paid a penny in interest charges, but my mortgage is the one and only bill I can't pay with my DV because they charge a 3% fee and you only get 1% back in rewards. We are considering refinancing our loan and one of the things I keep looking for in my research of the best rates was whether I could pay with credit card, lol....hubby thinks I am nuts but I did promise that would NOT be the only criteria, just one more positive mark, lol.

Anyway...if you have a bank that lets you charge your mortgage payment for free let me know the name so I can research the rest of their refinance costs, lol.
