disney visa points

what are some of the other rewards I have a card and only was using it for the 1% rewards...I have 157 so far and just started about a year ago :)

There are some discounts available at select disney stores although that is not showing on the internet right now. I am getting 0% for 6 months for purchasing a Disney package through Disney on the card (and a $40 credit).

Through Sept 30 there is a special Character Meet & Greet in EPCOT for Disney card holders with a free picture. It is in Inovations (west I think) in the afternoon hours. Apparently you can get a free picture per account each day you are there.

I can't wait. :Pinkbounc

One time I had called Disney Visa (about a month before my card was due to expire) and they asked me if I would like for them to send me my rewards because the credit card is not automatically renewed and the points will not carry over... unless this has changed since last Sept. :confused3

Gee, I have been a member since "day 1" with Disney Visa and my card has been automatically renewed (at least I have never had to renew it myself!) But you do have to keep an eye on the rewards cards since they DO have an expiration date on them.

Stupid question here- can you rewards points anywhere in the parks or just certain places? I am doing the same as others here, putting monthly expenses on card and paying off (I pay off each week online).

**Caution with disney visa when due to expire**

when your credit card expires they do NOT automatically send you a new one, and your credits are NOT carried over!

We use ours for everything as well, and are looking forward to using it for our upcoming trip. :wizard:

This is true with the Rewards Card, but absolutely not so with the VISA credit card. The creedit cards will be renewed and a new one will be sent, just as with other credit cards. The rewards cards expire in December of the following year and you have to use all the points on the card by that date or you lose them. You will not lose any points still attached to your account when the VISA is renewed. Those are good for a number of years before the banked points expire. But once transfered you have until the following Dec. 31 to use or lose.

jillyjoey - you can use your Disney Rewards card almost everywhere at Disney World and Disneyland that have a credit card reader. Disney Cruise Line and Disney Stores also accept the card. However, there are some places at Downtown Disney that will not accept the Rewards Card, such as Fulton's Crab House, even though the Virgin Records Mega Store does.

I'm also a Day 1 Disney VISA card holder, and have never had to renew the charge card.

I have been a card holder since day 1 also - and use my card for every single purchase. I receive approximately $400.00 per year in rewards. We use this to pay for our meals on our trips. We usually charge everything to our room - then pay it off before we leave with the card. Really hassle-free.

Also, there is a special right now in addition to the Photo-Op - you can save 10% on purchases over $25 in DTD at World of Disney.

If for any reason someone needs to get a card issued and doesn't have time to order before their trip - you can always go to Guest Relations in DTD. They issue it for you there.

Once you order your card, it is good till December of the next year - So I would suggest that If you have time to order your card - do so as soon as possible - then the day before you leave, log onto the site and re-load the card with the remainder of your Rewards.

I too am a day 1, charter member, and have always had a new card sent to me automatically before the current one expired.

I just went to Disneyland last week and was very happy to get the free stroller deal! (for Disney Visa card members only) It was very easy and cost nothing. I wish they would do this at WDW too! :cool1:

Disney Visa changes the perks every so often. I often get emails about special deals that are offered to Visa holders before the general public. For example, the free dining for fall was offered to Visa holders a few days before general public. I also get codes for disneyshopping.com. Plus, the cards just look cool, don't they?! I believe Mousesavers.com, and Allearsnet.com have a place that gets updated on the perks you can get.

I  my Disney Visa! I saved $750.00 on our last trip Dec. '05! We are going in Sept for free dining and will have close to $200.00 in rewards for this trip. You can't beat it!

suswa - I'm also getting the 0% financing on my package, but what was the $40 credit for? Didn't see about that! :confused3

I can confirm that you don't get points to transfer balances to the Disney card. But on the flip side, be careful because they will probably charge a transfer fee. I got mine a year ago to use next week :cheer2: . I've racked up a lot of points that will be greatly needed 'cause I'm taking the grandkids. It's amazing just how much money you can spend in a year and still go on vacation.

Can I give my rewards card to my resort along with my credit card when I check in and have all my charges taken off the rewards card first? I figure we'll charge everything to the room anyway.

One more question for card holders: Do you get the points as soon as there is a charge or at the end of the billing cycle? The reason I am asking is because I thought I might get one and put my groceries and monthly bills on it and pay it in full. But I am the type that likes to pay it after each charge. Will I lose out on points if I pay it this way?

You have to wait till your billing cycle is complete to be rewarded with the points. It doesn't matter if you pay it off or not - you will still receive your points.

You can also use your reward points to pay your dues at DVC, DD and DSIL use their card for everything all year, call customer service to transfer the points to $ to pay the yearly dues off.

That's good to know! I know I would do better paying each week instead of waiting for the bill! You can pay it online like other Chase accounts, correct?

I'm glad to read all the info on the reward card. This will be our first time using it at Disney. Great advice. Thanks.

You can add to your rewards by managing the rounding errors in your favor.

The number of rewards dollars are based on your purchases each month multiplied by 1%. According to the terms and conditions, "If such calculation results in a fractional dollar value amount, then such fractional amount will be rounded to the nearest whole Disney Dream Reward Dollar, such that uneven Disney Dream Reward Dollar amounts between (x) 0.01 to 0.49 will be rounded down to the nearest Disney Dream Reward Dollar,SM and (y) 0.50 to 0.99 will be rounded up to the nearest Disney Dream Reward Dollar."

This means that if you charge between $50.00 and 149.99 in a single month, you earn one Reward Dollar, between $150.00 and 249.99, you earn 2 Reward Dollars, etc. Due to rounding, your actual % earned will usually vary between 1.33% and 0.67%, with the best deal if you charge exactly $50 each month to earn 1 Reward Dollar -- a 2% return!

I check my balance near the end of each billing period and may add a small charge if it will help me earn another Reward Dollar or I may hold off on a purchase until the next billing period if it won't earn me any more Reward Dollars.
