Do they always offer an onboard credit if you use your Disney Visa to pay for the cruise?

I own a Disney Visa now, but my initial deposit was put on a different Visa. Is there anyway I could still get the onboard credit if I put the balance on the DV? Has anyone every tried this? What if they credit my other credit card the $1000 deposit and put the entire amount on my Disney Visa at final payment time?

Any suggestions?

We didn't have a DV when I booked our repo cruise, so used another card for the deposit. By the time I made my final payment we had gotten a DV so I asked my TA if I could use my DV so I could get the shipboard credit. He said the entire cruise needed to be paid on the DV in order to receive the shipboard credit. He did suggest that he could request Disney to credit my deposit to my first card and then charge the whole amount to the DV so I could get the shipboard credit. I gave him the ok to do this. It took awhile for the credit to show up on my first card, but I was willing to wait.

Since this is our first trip since getting our DV not sure if DV offers shipboard credits all the time or just as a special offer type thing.

Disney Visa seems to offer the $50 onboard credit most of the time. I originally booked our upcoming cruise with a Discover then I got the Disney Visa card and they were offering the onboard credit. I had my TA credit the Discover the deposit amount and rebill it to Disney Visa to get the onboard credit. I am a little paranoid about not getting the onboard credit for some reason so I am bringing my Visa statements that reflect the deposit and final payments just to be safe.

we did exactly what you've all done, and got the credit! our first cruise, charged our deposit on another card, and the shipboard credit thing came up, and we spoke to our ta about it, and she was able to "switch" our deposit onto our dv, and charge the balance on our dv, and got the shipboard credit! they give you a little "note" on the ship, about your shipboard credit like in the middle of your cruise...

so just talk to your ta, and i'm sure he/she can arrange it for you to get your shipboard credit. it's just nice to have!! have fun!!

Just make sure your trip is coded "DCC" and check with DCL to make sure they have the credit waiting for you. You don't need to wait til the last minute and have to deal with this onboard.
You're on vacation. This can all be verified before.

We are doing this BUT I did notice on the DV that it said you had to request that code when you booked, it would not be honored if you didn't. Who knows- we won't be going for a while but hopefully it will be there.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

To the person who asked this question and to those who answered. I had the very same situation, and thanks to you guys, I now have an extra $50 onboard credit on top of the $50 disney dollars I received for opening the account. I wouldn't have even tried it if I hadn't read it here.
