Disney Visa OBC question

So I know you get a $50 OBC if you use your Disney Visa to pay for your cruise in full

1. Is this even if you do the deposit with the visa on one date and then the rest around your PIF date?

2. I have a good amount of disney rewards dollars. If I use them to pay for part of the cruise and then use the visa to pay the difference do I still qualify for the OBC since technically I didn't put the whole cruise amount on the Visa?

3. is the OBC per stateroom?

Thanks!

1. As long as all payments are made with the Disney Visa, it qualifies for the $50 OBC, regardless of the number of payments

2. No, my understanding is you have to charge it to the Disney Visa; using Rewards as payment negates the OBC. You could accrue the Rewards and use it towards your onboard account

3. maximum 2 staterooms

Enjoy your cruise!

Just got off the Fantasy April 12th and by $50 OBC from Disney Visa was not there even though I had called them twice before we left to make sure it was all taken care of. Make sure you mention the OBC booking offer code when you put down the deposit. I did contact them and I got a letter yesterday. I think because I booked another cruise while onboard using my Disney Visa that they were confused because the letter said it will be on my account when I sail and did not address that I did not receive the credit on my previous cruise. Oh well maybe I will call again and maybe not.
Any ideas on how to make sure that the credit is going to show up on the account before I board the ship? Especially for our next cruise since we are going out of Barcelona.

If you book onboard you will not get the Visa OBC AFAIK. No combining Disney offers.

So I wonder if the letter was them telling me that because my OBC wasn't applied to my previous cruise that they are going to apply it to my future booking? I may have to call and find out. If so that is fine with me.
I didn't remember that I couldn't book on board and get the OBC from Disney Visa, makes sense though. Not a big deal because I will still use it to pay for the cruise for the reward dollars.

You have to ask for the visa obc while you are booking it or before you are paid in full before it's applied. We paid in full with the Visa, and saved our Disney reward dollars for our on board charges. I gave them the reward card after we boarded and the cruise was already paid in full. We got the $50 OBC.

If adding it to an upcoming cruise, the terms on the website right now say:

Must use your valid Disney Visa Card to book a Disney Cruise Line® vacation for sailings through 12/30/2014 to receive a $50 onboard credit good towards merchandise, spa treatments, shore excursions and other onboard activities.

They may extend it, they may not. So if you're sailing in 2015 you don't know for sure you'll get the OBC.

I ended up booking my cruise with my Amex because I get 1% back I can use on anything (really, a statement credit, but not in dollars I can only use at Disney location). Worst case I'm out $50, best case I come out even. And I'll get the statement credit for the deposit and cruise fare well before we sail, since our PIF date is February, rather than it sitting in Disney's coffers collecting interest for them until we use it on the ship.

So just something to consider.

That's right, you can't combine the $50 DVC discount with ANY discount, such as 10% booking discount. The only discounted sailing you can use it on is a *GT sailing which does not apply a discount code. I found my 10% off to be much more valuable than the $50 OBC, but I did use that on my first cruise which was VGT. Applying rewards is equally way more gratifying then $50. We have gotten well over $900 in rewards and gift cards in a year. LOVE MY DISNEY CHASE CARDS! :thumbsup2

I'm a huge Amex supporter and put most everything on it. However, I use a Disney Premier Visa. It has a $50 per yr fee, but you get 2% off Disney purchases. If you paid for a $5000 cruise (including on board charges) you'd get $100 rewards. That pays for the $50 card fee, $50 in net rewards you'd get with Amex, and a $50 on board credit. Anything beyond $5000 on Disney charges is more rewards. Granted you have to use the rewards with Disney, but that's not hard.

Apparently, you have to mention the offer in order to receive it. We paid our deposit with our Disney VISA, and also paid our final payment with our Disney VISA. We paid the payment on line and there wasn't any place to enter a code. I called Disney VISA to ask for the credit, got transferred from place to place. Then was told they would send it to the rewards department and I would get a decision letter in a week notifying me of the final outcome. I haven't received anything.

as long as your sailing is this year, just call the cruise line and have them apply the Disney Visa On Board Credit.

Agree -- you need to call DCL. Chase (that's who you called if you called the credit card) does not actually "manage" the Onboard Credit offer.

The booking code "DCC" should be entered when you first make the reservation, but you (or your TA) can call DCL to have it entered after that. I'm not sure if it can be done after you PIF, but worth a try.

Enjoy your cruise!

We don't use the disney card enough pay for the premiere. We get better rewards we can use on anything, and not have to sit on until the next time we go to Disney on our other cards. .. but if we lived near DLR or WDW it'd be a different story. :)

FYI - The Disney Visa OBC needs to be mentioned to DCL if you are booking directly or by the TA. It's a booking code. The code can be added all the way up to PIF. Once you PIF, you cannot add it from what I was told.

Now, DCL bookings only allow ONE booking code, hence why it cannot be combined with other offers that have a booking code (like OBB, kids sail free, fl rate, military, canadian). The *GT rates do not use a booking code so the Disney Visa OBC offer can be applied for *GT bookings. The only other 'offer' that can be combined with it is the online booking OBC when they have it - they haven't since Dec 2012.

Regarding payment, deposit and PIF must all be done by either the Disney Visa Rewards or the Disney Rewards Points card.

So paying with the Disney Visa rewards card DOES qualify for the $50 OBC?

I have heard both...that payment with the Rewards Card will qualify and that it negates the OBC offer. Though I don't know that I've actually read a report of anyone who actually did use Rewards to pay for part of the cruise and received the OBC. Seems to always be "I was told this..." If you are willing to risk losing the $50, give it a try.

Is it $50 per stateroom? We book 2 rooms.

maximum 2 staterooms
