I have been a lurker for awhile and decided to finally join the forum officially! My very first question (and yes, there probably will be more) is about the Disney Visa. I have a couple credit cards that I pay off and have never carried a balance, so the interest rate doesn't matter... I guess my question is, Would it be worth it for me to get the card for the perks? We are going to DL in August with an Alaskan airlines package and I have two little ones pirate: 6 andprincess: 3. What do you think???? I have one card that has HORRIBLE CS, but great perks so I deal with it, how is the CS with this card? TIA!

Oh and how do you get the rewards? Do they hold them until you tell them what to do with them?

i love the rewards. last time i checked you could leave them on the card for 5 years and then put them onto a gift card that expires in a year. now if you don't plan on going to disneyland a bit then it may not work for you. now with us wife pays our bills online and as such she has the option to use a credit card. so we use the disney card. it's our gift money when there. another perk is the meet and greet and when i booked my package thru dreams unlimited i got a few extras for using my card. so by using my card for my trip i get money to spend on my trip:banana:

Does "CS" mean customer service? If so, then I can say the CS with the Disney Visa has been great. I call a few times during the year, sometimes with really stupid questions, and they always answer the phone promptly.

Have even had to reverse charges on a few items (ebay items that were never shipped) and I have NEVER had a problem with that. :goodvibes

The free Disney Visa meet and greet is worth every penny! The kids have always had 1 to 2 characters (chip & Dale or mickey and goofy) all to themselves for 5-10 mins. The free picture is great but the time spent with them is priceless. Once there was no one else waiting and we spent 15 mintues with Chip and Dale. It was great!
Plus it gives you 2 free stroller rentals everyday at DL. Also - you get 10% dining discount and a alot of restarants. Oh - and the hotels offer special rates for Disney Visa holders.

Wow - I sound like a commercial for it :rotfl2:

I was just gonna say-- your 2 kids, 6 and 3-- the free stroller rental alone might be worth it. Their rental strollers are sturdy joggers, big enough so that my 10 year old DD was stealing rest time in it when the 6 year old got out :rotfl: though she was a little squished. But DD6 was very comfortable in it and it saved her legs! Stroller rental normally costs $10 a day.

Thanks so much for all of your responses. I think I'll go ahead and get it. I just wanted to know if any of you had had trouble with the customer service dept. I do think the meet & greet as well as the strollers will make it easily worth it. If I get it and charge my Alaskan Air vacation on it (since it is around $200 cheaper for the same thing through them) then I will roughly get about $20.00 in rewards...I think that will equal a couple corndogs & churros.;) This is so fun planning this trip!

Plus certain places you buy food with the card you get 10% off another perk.

don't forget all the other stuff you use daily like groceries or food it adds up quickly and if you do the trip often. we go about every two years so it adds up.

Okay you all sold me on it! I was thinking that the meet & greet alone would be worth it. Okay time to apply and then put the trip on it. Oh, does it take awhile to get your rewards credited to you in disney dollars/card to use in the park?

You have to have 20 reward points accumulated before you can get a rewards card issued. It takes about a week to get your card mailed to you. Once you have your card you can add available points instantly either by phone or internet.

If you don't have time to wait for your card, I believe you can get a rewards card issued in Downtown Disney.

When We Got Our Cards We Got In On A Promotion That Gave Us $25.00 In Rewards After Our First Charge. Needless To Say Both My Dh And Myself Got A Card. Also, You Get 6 Months At 0% On All Disney Vacation Packages; That Is A Great Perk! We Also Have Gotten Travel Package Specials Before They Are Offered To The Public. (mostly Dw Packages). I Suggest Asking If They Have Any Promotions That Give You Free Disney Dollars. Hey - Pm Me, I Just Remembered They Sent Me An Offer To Give To Friends, $25.00 Gift Card After Your First Purchase. I Have The Information To Pass On If You Would Like.

hbailey... I've got a question for you. If you haven't signed up already... would you be my "refer a friend"? When you "refer a friend" (using a special id number) you get a $25 disney gift card and I get '25 disney dream reward dollars'.

If you haven't applied for the card yet, and are willing to do this for me, pm me and I'll give you the special id number you'll need. :goodvibes We're making our next trip to DL in August, as well, and I'm trying to rack up my reward dollars to use on that trip :thumbsup2

Thanks!

The 0% interest on Disney packages really helps a lot!! I decided to get the Disney Visa for booking our DCL cruise for 09 (and still haven't paid for the 08 cruise yet!). I so needed that 0% financing for the deposit. Plus- hey that was a lot of reward dollars!!! Their CS has been great when I have called. Very prompt. No endless pressing buttons to get to a live person.

So now I will use it for all Disney related trips and purchases. I didn't want or need another credit card- but the perks to this one were too good.

I just signed up. Sorry about not referring anyone... I didn't see the little box for referral or that would've jogged my memory. The funny thing is my DH & I have the exact same credit history. I did his name first because I didn't need another card in my name and he wasn't instantly approved???? So I used my info and was instantly approved with a very high limit. Go figure! Oh well. So does it take about 2 weeks to get the real card in the mail? I'm itching to book my trip with Alaskan airlines since it's about $200 cheaper than through the disney site for the same thing minus the toontown morning and a couple extras. Figure that's not worth $200.

Please PM me! I tried to PM you, but as a "youngling" I can't send PMs until I have at least 10 posts.

Forgot to add, that I'd be happy to use you as a referral. I plan to sign up for a DV when I book our trip in the next couple of weeks.
