Disney Visa--How do you use yours?

We've had a Disney Visa for years. We have paid for the Dining plan and meals and gifts with the rewards. We also charge everything and pay it in full each bill cycle food, gas, monthly dance class payments, orthodonic payments, EZ pass. We have never rec'd the 5X's disney dollars offer and have even called about it. Still since we pay our bill in full and charge so much every month. I don't think we'll ever get this offer. :confused3

We are heavy users of the Disney Card (we accumulated almost 500 points in one year... 165 of which were bonus points). And we pay in full every month (except for the 0% Disney trip items)

Yet, we have gotten 2 of the deals in the past year.

I think they base who to give the deals to based on categories you dont use the card on. We normally dont use the disney card on airfare, groceries and gas. And that is what the offer was on.

So we jumped on it.

I just recently got a Disney Visa and have started using it to pay for everything. I'm a little worried about getting a big bill at the end of the month, so I signed up online and every once in a while, pay whatever I have charged so far -- not waiting for the bill.

Does anyone know if this practice affects your reward points? I'm wondering if the reward points are based on what your statement balance is each month -- or -- is it based on how many dollars you charge to the card? I'm hoping that me paying some of these charges prior to the statement doesn't adversely affect my rewards.

I do the same exact thing, and no the rewards are still the same. You will receive 1 Disney reward point for every $100 you spend on it in a one-month billing cycle.

I also use it for everything and we got the 5X reward this year, but our amount is $1000.00. I think it does depend on your spending and since use it so much, our threshold is higher.

I signed up for a 2nd card to get the $100 gift card and we alternate between the two, depending on when we purchase things as they are about 2 weeks apart in the statement closing dates so it allows me to put off paying for things by a whole month sometimes!

While I know there are other reward cards out there that offer better points, I know that the Disney points get used easily and will never expire, especially with our yearly trips to WDW.

This won't affect your rewards. However...Chase has a policy that you have to wait a few days between payments (I think it's 3 or 4).

Oops, sorry for the delay in answering. Yes, my DH had his own card in conjunction with mine. I was the primary account holder. I wasn't sure if they would allow him to apply on his own and get the $100 but they did. :cool1:Now I am trying to convince my unemployed DD to try. Hey, it can't hurt. :rotfl:

I just convinced my Mom and Dad to apply as well!!

I have the Disney VISA since they first introduced it - cause it's Disney.
Not overly found of Chase.

I use it for everyting and the rewards add up.

However, I just got my current statement in and they raised the interest rate as a corporte decision by 7%.

called to complain and was told I can either accept it or cancel and pay of the balance.

Anyone else having this issue?

Both my DW and I have separate DVC cards. She pays for all the food and gas and stuff we buy, I use mine through my company. Between us we generate about 600 points per year. We have found that it pays for all our food during out vacation as well as gifts for DS.

So for two weeks in a Studio or 7 days in a 1br at BCV, it costs us about $3100 out of pocket

$1000 for the plane
$1000 for the APs
$1100 for the maintenance fees

And of course we run the plane and Maintenance fees through our cards.

I also link the card to my checking account so that they are auto paid off and we never pay interest!

I can't figure out how people get the 5x rewards... is there any rhyme or reason to it? Can I call and have them do it?

Unfortunately, I had no luck getting them to give it to me last winter. My DS has a card and he got it (doesn't use it that much) so I called and they said its promotional and you can only get it if you get an email (or card in the mail).

Now, I did get one in June (for purchases in July, August, & September) but my threshold is $1000. I am not sure if that means that I only get the 5X rewards if I spend more than a $1000 per month on the qualifying areas or $1000 total during the 3 month promotion.

I figured I would see what happens when the bills come.

We have actually gotten several statements from our other cards as well about the rate increases. They give you the option to accept the change or put in writing that you do not accept and they freeze your account at that amount and then when it is paid off the account is closed. This has not been an issue with us because we do pay the balance off at every cycle.

Just wanted to let my fellow DVC members know about a promotion at the Disney Store has this weekend. I haven't seen any publicity on this at all but stumbled upon it when I was at disneyrewards.com. They are opening the Disney Store 1 hour early to only Disney Visa members and they will get breakfast, story time with the kids, coloring, and possibly some other things as well. I just received a 15% coupon in the mail so we'll use it that morning. Thought you guys would want to know. You must present your Disney Visa card or print out the invitation from Disneyrewards.com (you may have to log into your chase account first)
