Disney VISA free dining code QXZ

I just priced out my trip on disney.com at regular rates and it came out to 1736. so the 20% discount with free dining on visa doesn't seem to add up! oh heck.

We weren't able to use both codes - first had the fall code, then switched to free dining. Price went up about $500, but now the six of us won't have to pay for a week of food... so I figured that was at least as good as I could do, trying to save money. And it's still a little lower than the rooms would be at rack rate...

All of you super-smart Disney planners out there, please HELP! I've been patiently hoping and praying that the Disney Visa Free Dining promotion would open to the general public. If it ever does, do you know where it would be announced first? I've notice that the Disney Visa promotion is not mentioned anywhere on the Disney vacation planning website. Any insight???

i am thinking of a last minute trip. i too have an AP and will be getting a 1 day ticket to take advantage of this deal. how exactly does that work? is the ticket not activated until you use it? can anyone use the ticket? i ask because i am going back next year and could give the 1 day ticket away as i will still have my AP. TIA.

This may be a stupid question but i'm assuming that you have to have a Disney Visa, not just a Visa to be able to use these codes right?

Yes, but you can apply for a Disney Visa, and if approved, can use it right away to make a reservation.

Just go to the Reservations Landing at www.disneyworld.com, then click on Special Offers. Apply for the Disney Visa through the link there. Once approved, you'll need to make a reservation online without free dining, but then you can call and have the free dining code applied to your ressie. I just did this yesterday and it worked like a charm!:thumbsup2

Good luck!:goodvibes

Once your approved wouldn't it also be okay to just call and book a package all at one time? You would need to tell them you want to book a package with free dining. You would have to get at least a one day base ticket for each in your party, if you weren't already planning on getting tickets for the whole trip. If you don't need the ticket, you can save it till someday that you do. They would have you make a deposit with your new d.visa. Pretty easy! :goodvibes

Just call and tell them you'd like to apply the d.visa FD code to your current ressie. Shouldn't be a problem if they have room at the resort you want. Ask them to play with the dates a bit if you are flexible with your dates, or check other resorts if your first choice is all booked up. They will check to see if you've made a previous deposit using a d.visa already. If not, they should be able to take another deposit with your d.visa with this change to the ressie. Also, if you didn't have tickets already bought with the package, you'll have to buy a one day base ticket for each person, but you can hang on to those until whenever you need them on another trip if you want to. :thumbsup2

Exactly, the ticket is not activated until you use it, so you can save it till you need it. Yes, theoretically anyone can use it because it's not tied to you by the fingerprint scan yet or anything, so you could give it away. Or, you could also always save it for when you don't have an AP. Either way works! :)

To a PP that I forgot to quote, to find new info on new codes that come out, just keep an eye on the Codes and Rates forum, someone always posts the new info for sure! :thumbsup2 Also, if you have a d.visa, they usually send out an email announcing the newest code when they have one. But, that's not to say they are always timely! I got mine from d.visa later in the afternoon after I had already adjusted my resort package to add the FD, having learned about it here on the codes and rates forum the night before! (On a previous offer, I, and others, got emails a week later than finding out here!). Actually, I hadn't been here in a few days and thought, hey I'll check just in case, but not expecting anything as it hadn't been that long since the last Gen.Public code in Aug, and certainly not expecting FD. I had had a code I found here back in Aug that was a great deal, but so was the FD so went with that! :cool1:

sorry to be so wordy tonight! :goodvibes

Thanks for the help! Just one more question! Is there a minimum expenditure you have to make on the card every month, etc.? See i'm a college student and I want to be wary about using credit cards and if there is a minumum or something than I might not be able to get it.

In order to keep the card active it must be used once PER YEAR.

Thanks for the replies to my question regarding my online quote being one price, and then the price quoted over the phone w/ free dining being more - Let me clarify a few things

1-I mistakenly put 7 nites in my original post, but it should have read 6
2-I made sure that the person I spoke to on the phone created the reservation exactly as I did online (standard rm, no insurance, same nts, same park tix) - they confirmed, but couldn't explain the difference in price
3-The price quote I did myself online was for rack rates, w/ no discount

What I can't understand is why the price goes up w/ free dining. "free Dining" implies it is just that: "Free". If it costs "X" amount for MYW package at rack rate w/ no discount, the free dining offer should be that same price and just include "free dining". Seems that for "Free Dining" they magically increase the price of a full-price package. That definitely is not "Magic My Way".

There's something wrong...

For example, (and this is while the Fall packages were still available):

CBR in late Dec, 2A, 1J, 1C - 6day tix, w/hopper, no water, no ins

Fall Package $1989
QXZ (Free Dining) $2151

If I would add dining to the Fall package, it would have been an extra 750 (38 x3 + 10) x 6

I would call back and try with someone else...

this deal is $63 per person per day right? is the price lower for kids?

heres what i'm getting when i tally up my new package
2A, 1C (9)
9 night @POP
7 day basic tickets

$63 X 3 people =189 per day

189 X 9 nights = 1701.00

My package W/dining new code came out to $1497.70
-is it cheaper because i only got 7 day tickets and i have 1 child rate?????

The samples "Per Person, Per Day" Disney posts are based on a sample "Disney Family" of 2 adults, 1 Junior and 1 Child. Tickets will be for the number of days and are only base tickets.

You would need to figure out the room only charge, then adding the tickets based on how you want it to get a real quote.

If you want free dining, you have to use a package, which means that you would have to add a 1 day base ticket per person. What you can do however is not use that one day ticket and save it for the future. You will be able to apply it even to your next year AP purchase (as a $75 credit). I think you have to request to get that ticket be printed as a paper ticket instead of having it added to your key to the world.

Look around at the other threads as this is discussed very frequently (search for AP rates).

Alright, sorry for the questions but I just want to figure this out before I do anything. We're taking a vacation from Oct. 23rd - Oct. 27th. It's a package at the CBR with two 3 day park hoppers. If I apply for the Visa will I get a discount on the package if I call them back? Do I get free dining? If so then I think I will go ahead and get the Visa. Thanks in advance

No, you will not be able to get the free dining (sorry). The dates for the free dining are 9/28-10/11, 11/9-11/22, 12/14-12/20/08. We didn't get it either. We are going Oct. 18-25.

Bummer! Does just signing up for a visa get any special discounts or rates?

The problem with both of these options is that you do not know your newly-approved Disney Visa number yet, and neither do the CMs. If you make a reservation right after you are approved, the new Visa number is already on the site as one of your payment choices, but you can only see the last 4 digits.

If you make the reservaiton online, then the CM can check it and confirm that you used a Disney Visa, and can then apply free dining.

If I had an existing reservation, I'd make a new one online and then cancel the prior one.

Interesting, thanks for the info on that! I was wondering if maybe that was a reason to do it online, and I guess that is the case. I just didn't really know they did that. Works out pretty well then if you can get approved right away!

This one I still don't get. If she already has a d.visa, why wouldn't she just call and ask to apply the new code (FD, or whatever code was being offered by d.visa) and put on a new deposit with the d.visa? Or are you saying to do this if she is just now getting the d.visa but doesn't know the number yet, as talked about in the above quote in this post? I thought when a pp asked about what to do with an existing reservation, well, I wasn' thinking she didn't have the d.visa yet. Maybe I read it wrong and was just confused. :confused3

Well, it doesn't appear that it will help you with room discounts or free dining for THIS vacation.....but Disney VISA holders often get to sign up for deals before AP holders and the general public. In fact, when the fall codes were announced in August, there was a huge uproar because the Disney VISA holders didn't get to sign up before everyone else and there were lots of complaints. Of course, now we know WHY they were seemingly "excluded" from the fall deals, because Disney VISA had even better codes available to them.....but until those came out there were a LOT of unhappy people, lol.

In years past, the codes for the Aug/Sep free dining have been released in April sometime.....and Disney VISA holders would usually get their codes at least a week before AP or GP, so that meant that they had first dibs on the rooms available. Once it was released to the AP/GP it wasn't any different of a deal, just that with the VISA you got to book sooner. Since some deluxe resorts are very limited on availablity, that can often be a very big perk if deluxe is your choice. It does seem as though for Value/Moderate the earlier booking wasn't really as big of a deal.

This is the first time EVER that Disney has offered free dining after the normal Aug/Sep time frame. A VERY select few people have received an email or postcard with a PIN Code for the free dining, but otherwise, the only way to get it has been by having a Disney VISA card. Since this offer is so unprecedented, there is no way of knowing if this is something they'll offer again next year, or if it has more to do with the economy, or whatever. We won't know that until, well, next year, lol.

But....there are other perks to having the Disney VISA besides the hope that there will be a special room rate or other discount on vacation packages...... Go to disneyrewards.com to see what's currently offered.

A couple of perks off the top of my head: Reward dollars (we've earned over $500 since last fall when we got the card); exclusive meet and greet plus a free print of that visit; discounts at World of Disney; being able to defer payment with zero interest for 6 months on your vacation packages.

There is no annual fee, so as long as you use the card once per year to keep it active, so I figure it's a good thing to have on hand so you'll be able to quickly and easily take advantage of the deals when they come up, because there is rarely more than a day or two of advance notice and honestly....I know there are many people who have applied and are awaiting their card, but from other threads it appears that the free dining rooms are down to slim pickin's....so they may have applied too late for this year's deal. If you don't want to use it except to keep it active, I'd still get it just so it's on hand when you need it.
