Disney Visa Discount?

We have a new Disney Visa and I was wondering how the discounts are released? Do you get an email, on your bill or through the mail. Also, what is the guess when the next discount will be announced. Thanks!

Discounts most often come through email, but keep your newsletter handy when you start getting that because discounts will be in that. Many discounts are also listed on the visa website.

Hmm newsletter? I don't recall a Disney Newsletter. Do you mean that booklet I get once in a while? Usually doesn't have anything that I didn't learn about here first.

I've also not received a newsletter, and I've had my Disney Visa since early February.

I get the Disney Rewards newsletter. The one that I still see on my desk (I tend to stockpile them) says Spring 2014. I think its basically a quarterly newsletter with Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter issues. Its a nice little "magazine" but I certainly wouldn't rely on it for early discount notices, its usually pretty much all after the fact information. The magazine will usually have your Disney Rewards balance printed on the first page as well (although usually a month or so out of date).

With regards to Disney Visa discounts. I believe that the norm is that Disney Visa holders, generally thru email, will receive prior notice of an upcoming discount, be it room only, or package or free dining. As a general rule Disney Visa holders get an early booking window, as the offer becomes a general public offer usually 3-5 days after its first available to DV holders.

I don't think Disney Visa gives you any unique room/package discounts, just primarily an early booking window.

This is very helpful; thanks. Do you know whether room discounts were offered to Disney Visa cardholders before the general public for last November? I looked at the historical discount chart on Mousesavers.com; unless I'm reading it wrong Visa holders got advanced notice only for stays through September 2013. For Oct-Dec 2013, there was no advantage--that is, "early booking window"?

I could be wrong but what does happen on occasion is they might list a discount like they did last year for Disney Visa holders for September free dining, then 3-5 days later they open it up to the general public for the same period. But, then sometimes Disney simply expands the dates of the original offer. In 2012 when we last went they gave DV holders an early booking when they expanded the offer, but last year, you are correct, it appears that they didn't.

But in 2014, it looks like all the DV offers are early booking offers. So who knows what might happen in the next couple of weeks regarding fall 2014.

I'm hoping that within two weeks we'll know if Disney is offering add'l RO discounts.

Frankly I NEVER get any kind of notice, email or otherwise, about Disney visa offers. I rely on these boards for the most accurate info
