If I use the MB to charge, and my MB charges go onto my Disney Visa CC, do I get the 10% discount where offered? Or do I have to specifically use the CC for charges to get the 10%. I'm not sure if this question makes sense.

Yes, if your Disney VISA is linked to your MB, you should get any benefits of the card when you make the payment for those charges.

I don't think that I agree, the 10% is taken off of your transaction at POS by showing your card. The merchant would have no way of knowing what card you linked to your room charges.

The 1% or 2% card statement credit would still apply but that reward is given by the CC company.

If you want the discount you have to use the Visa specifically- they have to see the card and you must be charging to it- so adding it to your magic band will not give you the discounts. The same thing happens with the DVC discounts- you have to have your membership card with you not just a room key/magic band that says DVC.

Is this at multiple stores in the park and DTD? Or just certain stores?

::yes::

I haven't looked lately but last I checked it was when you spend over $50 at the main store in each park as well as World of Disney but I have learned to ask about discounts for everything when I check out and see what the best deal is each time. (At Basin our military discount is best but it always just depends).

You have to physically have the card on you to get the discount. You also have to spend $50. :)

Am at WDW. The stores apparently have nothing to tell them your Visa card is being used for charges. Likewise if you want to use PAP or AP discount and thus even though the bands can be used for entry using your AP or PAP, you cannot get a discount with them; thus if planning to use Visa or AP or PAP for discount, you need to bring the separate card. Nevertheless, all you really need is your DVC member card because that gets you the same 10% discount on merchandise as PAP or AP and there is no minimum purchase.

My specific experience was at lunch at Kona. The waiter told me they didn't have a discount for lunch for DVC members. So, I used my MB to buy the meal, which was linked to Disney Visa CC. But I forgot to ask if they were one of the "select" dineries to offer the CC 10% back, and the meal was under $50. My question is, since I linked my Disney CC to my MB, then why can't their scanner be programmed to identify the discount card, as such, and automatically figure in the 10% discount, and total the final bill that I sign to show the discount. The $50 minimum purchase to get the 10% off applies just to merchandise bought at a Disney store, if I'm correct.

I have never heard of Disney Visa having discounts at restaurants- only on merchandise. We have specifically been told that we would have to have physical cards for discounts and ask about them to get them.

That's what happened to me. I didn't just have to show the card-I had to use it for the discount. In addition I had a few CMs that required me to show them an ID (my driver's liscence). And yes, I had to spend $50 worth. I remember using it at the World of Disney, the Art of Animation in DTD, and the AKL gift shop.

So it didn't matter as Polynesian Kona restaurant is not part of the 10% Disney Visa CC discount. But there are many others, and that's my question. I guess you have to use a CC at the participating venues (retail, dining, tours) to get the discount.

I have been told by CM to take the surveys on the MBs and specifically ask for DVC to AP info to be linked to the bands as a future improvement. The CM I spoke with on my last visit said it would be easier for them...as people using the bands are less likely to carry ID or their member cards and trying to get the discount is then a hassle. I had to use my phone to pull up the MDE app and show my DVC PAP was linked just to be able to buy an AP pin.

It is my personal belief that this will never happen. While we are entitled to the discount, making it an automatic at the register will give discounts to those who would have otherwise forgotten. This would = lost revenue....so if you want the discount! you must bring the required proof. I now use a case on my phone that has 3 slots....1 for my ID, 1 for my DVC card, and 1 for my credit card.

We made the same mistake when we were there in January. We assumed our DVC discount would automatically be applied to purchases (3 different merchandise purchases....all over $50) since our MB's were coded as such AND also the card we used to guarantee room purchases was our Disney VISA ...didn't realize the discount wasn't on there until we picked up our purchases at the GF gift shop the next day. We inquired about it there and were told the resort gift shops are not on the same system and we certainly could return the items there, however, if those particular items were not available for sale in the resort gift shop we would not be able to re-purchase them with the discount at the gift shop since they would not be able to ring them up?? In total...we missed out on about $29 in discounts....lesson learned....in future I will be sure to have both Disney VISA and DVC ID on my person when making purchases AND be sure to check the discount is there. I agree with luckyman__apd.....I also don't think it will ever happen even though it's obvious the capability is there......if there's one thing I've learned over the years....automatic discounts are not usually a given at Disney!

I finally decided to carry with me at all times - APs, TIW, DL, Disney Visa and maybe I should start carrying my AAA - just in case

In addition to paying with the card, you also have to ask for the discount. Some cast members may say something if they see the card is a Disney Visa, others may not.
