Does anyone know what the categories are that you can get the extra points for? I am pretty sure gas is one. And does the $250 have to be in only that category or can it be a combo between the categories?

I think my categories were gas, groceries, and restaurants. My amount was $1000, but it seems like it was for all those type purchases combined, they you started earning 5x.

Honestly, I wasn't really sure how it worked, and $1000 in those categories seemed like a lot, but we signed up anyway, and we've been able to earn a lot of extra points, so I'm glad I did...even if I don't quite get it!

They tailor the offers to the specific card user. My categories are: gas, airlines, dining, and groceries. The amount is usually for all the categories combined, not for each individual. My threshold is $750, but I've had other offers with thresholds of $1000 and $2000. The $2000 threshold offer was for any charges, not limited to specific categories.

My DW's DV was for gas, Groc, and dining with a 250 dollar threshold

MY DV was for the same cat's but had a 1000 dollar threshold.

Gues which card we are using for this 3 month promotion

I love these promotions. The last one we had was for earning 5x after spending $250 on gas, groceries, dining and airfare. How hard is it to spend $250 on gas and groceries in today's economy. (And we are a family of 3). I bought airline tix for the 3 of us and my mom and netted about $60 from that purchase.

I put just about everything I can on the card when I know we are going to Disney. Last vacation was a 4 night land/ 4 night sea deal. I had about $700 in Disney dollars saved. It paid for meals in WDW and part of our cruise expenses !!

Hi! I was so happy to see your post--is the Disney Visa card offering a new promotion? Can you tell me, how could I find out more about it? I have a Disney Visa, but I didn't see anything about a new promo in the newsletter or on their website. Thanks so much! Jennifer

They randomly choose who they offer the promotions to. Last year my sister received the offer and I did not so I called them and was told they send out offers every three months and the computer randomly chooses the names.

Just FYI, I received this offer earlier this year and tried to take part in it. Our bill runs middle of month to middle of month so for July, our bill arrived and I didn't receive the 5x's points because all of June was not included in the bill.

Hi! Thanks so much for your quick, kind reply! I really appreciate it! Hope all is well with you! Jennifer

That random computer doesn't like me I guess. I have had my card 4 years and never got one of these promos..... that is the one thing I hate about the DIS...if it wasn't for reading it here I wouldn't even know about it, but since I know it just bums me out that I never get offered 5X rewards

Make sure you are signed up for it. I called today to ask a few questions and apparently the 3 times I've signed up for it since the beginning of July wasn't enough. I wasn't in the computer as being signed up.:headache:

The random computer doesn't like me either. I've been a cardmember since DAY 1 and have never gotten a 3x or 5x promo. In July, I did get a promo postcard that if I had recurring payments for my telecommunications for August and September, that I'd get an additional 25 points. You betcha that I made sure I did that!!!

I use our Disney card for EVERYTHING and pay it off each month for the points. That is a big part of our savings plan for Disney. We went in 2008 for the first time since the card (and first trip for our twins) and had over 900 in points. We are going in December (land/sea) this year and I already have over 700 points to spend. We are also using it to pay for the vacation so (1) we get $25 in OBC for the cruise and (2) interest free for 6 months.

Now, if I could only get 5x the points....I can always hope!
