Disney Visa 09/28 - 12/23 Code

planning for NJ week here. Probably value but would upgrade if rates are good... Unless dining is free, we would only go for room/tix. So the question is, assuming it's a room/tix package, would I be able to combine both the Disney Visa code and AAA ?

How would I place a reservation if so, via AAA or Disney?

I hate using a middleman...

BTW, I'm a chartmember and no code nor letter here either... :(

You can't stack codes. So it's either AAA or Visa Code or another code.

You can call Disney directly for AAA (I have a room booked now that way for October).

Ah... ok. So for now, book a room only directly with Disney and apply AAA discount for now and then see what happens. If package code comes out, then apply it ? As that would always be better than AAA package discount ?

Can a AAA agent take over an existing booking? or would it be return/rebuy?

Again, I am looking forward to seeing what the discount is. We booked POP from 11/28-12/06 (paid in full by the way to avoid the WDW rate increases) and wouldn't mind saving a little extra $$$. Of the discount is good enough, I wouldn't even mind trying to upgrade resort, but that's not a big deal for us.

With that said, people wonder why the "off" seasons get more crowded every year. All these discounts and free dining and such are great, but they just keep bringing more and more folks to the park. Pretty soon there will only be two seasons for Disney: Busy and Insane. :sad2:

I do not believe that a travel agent can take over a reservation that you have made. However, changing a room only to a package means that the room only needs to be cancelled and the package booked. So if this is something you wanted to do, you could cancel the room only after the package is booked, would not want to do it before booking the package in case you can't get it. Whether the possible visa package is better than a AAA discount is something you will need to calculate once you know the costs.

Actually, a travel agent can indeed take over a reservation that you book yourself. Just did that this week. I booked a package for an additional person joining us to avoid the increase, and signed the transfer form, faxed it to Disney and they do it.

But be aware that once it's transferred you must go through the TA for everything. You can no longer deal with Disney directly for changes or specials to apply to the existing reservation.

I am going in October also so please don’t take this the wrong way – but why all the hysteria when only one person posted about getting this “code”. ??? Just curious

Everything I've read, here on the Disboards and other boards, is pointing to codes coming out this time of year for the end of the year. I think mostly people are just trying to figure out how they're being released since we're all trying to save a bit of money.

Compared to when free dining came out, this hysteria is quite tame! :goodvibes

I actually sent Disney Visa an email through the website asking when I could expect my letter with discount just to see what they would say. I will post if I hear anything back from them. Hopefully it'll provide a bit of insight as to why only one person get a discount.:confused3

OP - where's the letter? :confused3 (just kidding of course!!)

Thanks. Now I understand a little better. So I'm booked through a TA at small world vacations. I have all my booking info though. If I see the code and can't get ahold of her can I call Disney myself and handle it? I guess I could always make separate reservations through disney if necessary.

One of the advantages to using one of these big Disney TAs is that they are usually very aware of the codes that are coming out and they are on the phones first thing. Contact your TA today and make sure. That's what I did 2yrs ago when we used Mouse for Less TA. It worked out great. By 8:30 AM, she emailed me with our new package and rate. This time, I'm using AAA cause wanted to make sure we at least saved that. I emailed my AAA TA last night and told her what our preferences are - stay at POP with a discount if possible and upgrade to preferred; or move up to POFQ or CSR if it's around the same price we're paying now. That's what we did 2 yrs ago - we moved up to CSR for the same money we were supposed to originally pay at POP. Only time will tell....but, I am excited and patiently (ok---inpatiently) waiting and don't have anyone to share the excitement except for here cause DH could care less and the kids don't know we're going....

SHERREIS,
I'll share your excitement....my husband could careless, and my kids don't know either!! We would like to go 11/30 - 12/6...our first December experience at WDW!! Just waiting for a code...any code.

Monday is our first day of school......hmmm...what's more important a code or feeding your kids a healthy breakfast...hmmm???

Well, I think it's a no-brainer :rotfl:

We don't start till the 26th. Next week is my kids last week of camp. They're getting so sad that summer is ending.

And, thanks for sharing my excitement - it's been one of the downfalls in planning this time compared to 2 yrs ago. All I hear now is "I can't wait till we can go to Disney World again" when we see something that reminds us of our trip and they know it will be many years before they can go and they know our next vacation is our cruise in Nov. 2009. I miss having them involved but when I picture their faces when they find out I know it will all be worth it. Good luck with school next week.

Ok here's what I got from Disney Visa this morning:

Sounds like there's some confusion for sure within the ranks. Hopefully someone will find out some more info soon!!

I'm with you needing someone to share the excitement with. My husband doesn't much care since he knows that we're going. The boys know that we're going in Dec but they really don't care if we save money or not-4 and 1-no concept of that.

Good luck to everyone waiting on a code!! I hope we all get what we want!

The more I think about it, the more it doesn't make sense. How could they give benefits to SOME card holders and not all? Wouldn't that open that up for some legal problems?

And isn't it ONLY the OP that got a code?

Something doesn't fit here.

Ok, I have my listening ears on:surfweb:

Catching up now, so this may have been answered. Your TA owns your reservation; you can't do anything to it. Part of why I don't use a TA--I'm a bit of a control freak.

What you can do is email (now) your TA and tell them that you heard a Disney Visa code is coming out. Small World Vacations probably know this already, but still...Let her know you have the Disney Visa. She'll know to take care of it ASAP when it comes out, if a good TA. Then when it comes out email the TA again.

But yes, you can make a separate reservation through Disney if necessary and then transfer it to the TA.

The codes wouldn't have come from Visa, but from Disney. They have that as a separate mailing list. They can pick and choose from that mailing list based on any number of factors--how long you've had a card, how much you charge on it, etc.

And just because the OP is the only one on here that received a code, doesn't mean she is the only one who received a code. Not everyone on the DIS comes to this board. Not everyone with a Disney Visa is on the DIS, KWIM?

Just an FYI--Disney will not raise your package price based on a ticket price increase (room rates are solid for the year) if you have already booked and paid a deposit unless you make a change. Even if you have already paid in full, and make a change (i.e., arrive and leave a day earlier), they can still raise your package price.

Have you seen next years room rates and seasons? We're already there. :sad1:

I have never received any type of code for my Disney Visa. The only way I knew about the 5x disney $ was through Disboards?!?!

The OP said it came from Disney Visa. That would imply the credit card company / Chase is involved and it is a benefit of owning the card. All I am saying is if that is the case, how can they pick and choose who gets benefits.

If it came from Disney, then I would think it would (should) have nothing to do with the Disney Visa.

But Chase does this all the time. Not everyone gets the earn 5X promotions. And even among those that do the threshold levels are different.

I was very surprised that Chase got involved in pin codes, but I guess I am not surprised based on my above logic. (does that even make sense??? lol) As long as it goes to the rest of the cardholders on Monday like we suspect, its all good :goodvibes
