Disney Video or Cindy's Coach??

Thanks! I just called STVS to get prices, but they are already booked on August 7. Looks like we really may end up keeping it this way...
I'll let you know what happens!

I vote for the video! I think you would really regret not having a video.

I'm gonna be the oddball here, but I would choose the carriage. I didn't have a wedding video, and I have no regrets about it. I hate watching myself in videos (whether they were professionally done or not). Also, I know that even the best videographer in the world could not have captured my memories from that day.

Personally, I would rather remember the 15 minutes of riding in the carriage then to get a video that I will would watch maybe once or twice.

I don't think that you were missunderstood about Disney videography. I just think that they don't have a lot of fans on this board.

I'm gonna be the second oddball and say that the carriage ride would be really great. Not something I'm eager to do myself, but I'm not a big fan of video. I've asked so many people about wedding videos and they say "oh we loved it" and then I ask them how often they've watched it and they say "once".

I think I will skip the video and invest the money in a good photographer instead, I love pictures. Pictures give you enough to jog a memory, video sort of takes that away from you by showing you how things really were, but not really. In my memories the sky is always bluer than it probably was, flowers are brighter, and I'm taller. Video kind of dashes that all to bits.

Thanks for the different opinions.
I am paying for the pics myself.. and we went with the enchanted rose package.. so we have the best Disney offers and a MK Bridal shoot.
Thats why I contemplated dropping the Video... Something else to think about.

I wasn't going to have a video but we are having a New Jersey reception and I wanted the people who didn't go to see it at the reception but I could have went without it. I think that you have to see what you would regret...not having a video or not having cindy's carriage. They are both once in a lifetime kinds of things so it is tough. If I had the choice I think I would go with Cindy's carriage.

I really wanted the video - more for my future kids to be able to watch it than for myself.
Unfortunately we went with Disney to do the videography and I was terribly disappointed! Although they tried to fix it up when I complained about it - it's still far from perfect.
The coach was a once in a lifetime opportunity and a great memory but I think if I had to choose I would still go with the video.

What went wrong with your video?

Well first of all nobody had told me that they do the videos two different ways - either documentary style or mini montages. So when I turned it on and my 6 hour wedding was dwindled to a half hour of mini montages I was really disappointed! But they fixed that for me and also included more of us getting our photos taken etc.
The sound was way off - in the WP if the camera wasn't focused on someone you couldn't hear them.
The color in the GF ballroom was way off in the video - everything had a red glow to it!
They fixed the sound and color as much as they could but it's still not great.
I was just looking forward to seeing the video so much and it was such a let down!

I would go with a video as well as it lasts forever and our video captured things we did not see. We also have 3 of our grandmothers still living and that played into our decision as we wanted them captured on our special day so that when they are gone we have them.

OK I AM GONNA BE THE DIFERENT OPINION HERE!!!!
i got amrried in February and used Disney vidoe they have a new company call ed Bruno White,

DISNEY VIDEO CAME OUT AWESOME!!!!! it was an 1.5 hour long I spoke with the video people prior to wedding and told them what I did and didn't want the did the montage at te beginning, then the whole ceremony and so much footage of reception all dances, cake cutting, speeches bouquet,, garter,
THE VIDEO WAS GREAT AND SO WORTH THE MONEY!!!
plus it was all set to disney music that I got to pick!!

The carriage is nice but you can only go around the parkinglot at wedding pavillion thats it, its beautiful but personally not worth the maybe 20 min in it. The video lastss a lifetime plus I was able to Burn morecopies of the dvd at home for our parents!!!!
If you want to see my video I can try and upload it or send it you, my planner at disney was Karen Heyn, she answered all concerns i had about disney video and got me in contact with Video company.

MY PICK---- GO WITH DISNEY VIDEO OR ANOTHER COMPANY IF YOU CAN!
(check on that new rule about outside photo/video people I am still not sure about the changes they made.)

Something else I just thought of... Your wedding is just a few days after mine, can you imagine how hot it would be in the carriage! There is no AC. I don't know about you, but I would be dying by the time I made it to the Pavilion.

If it were me, I would go with the carriage. But that really is just me. I decided not to have either as the carriage was just too expensive and I knew a video would sit around gathering dust. Instead we hired an amazing photographer and her pictures captured everything! We both have extensive photography experience so the pictures really were the important thing for us.

Some people watch their wedding video often, others never do. If you think you might be one of the ones who pulls it out to watch all the time, then go for a video. Otherwise, the carriage is a once in a lifetime thing that you will remember your whole life.

:)

Thanks girls!!
Got some great responses...Still unsure as to what I am going to do... I am actually looking into cutting down the food and beverage price.. we were way over the minimums and we can gain some money for our budget... Hopefully it will all work out and be perfect..I'm sure it will.

Kiera.. That is a good point.. August is a scorching month.. I still don't know why I picked it.. lol. Are you guys going to be at the GF on the 7th.. you'll have to watch for us.. I'd watch for you, but we aren't leaving until the 5th...

Thanks again!!

I think my vote would be with the carriage. You can always buy a cheap video camera and have a friend record the ceremony. Cheaper yet, can you rent video cameras??? That's what we're thinking about doing.

We actually will be! We are leaving on a 4 day Disney cruise on the 3rd, and then we are coming back to Disney on the 7th!! We might have to crash your wedding!! We are having our pre reception at the whitehall room and patio, so I'll leave you a little note there!!! :rotfl:

We are getting married a few days before you and we are having the carriage. I just had to have it I'm trying not to thing of the heat factor!

You wanted opinions and I am being honest- I am not a fan of the carriage and I personally feel it is a waste of money. I would definitley go with the professional videography since that is a longer lasting memory. We are paying for our wedding ourselevs and I just cannot justify paying almost 4k for 30 minutes of the carriage.

However, anyone who has ever chosen the carriage has always been extremely happy they did. So either way I don't think you can go wrong. It will boil down to a personal choice for you.

Haha... I'll be looking for it!
