I'm not sure if this is a good deal but Disney has a new promo.

Bring your family to enjoy the end of summer and enjoy great rates for stays most nights August 14 to October 1, 2011. For example, stay most Sunday through Thursday nights at select Disney Value Resorts for just $69 per night, plus tax. There are great rates on weekends and at other Resorts as well!

Book through August 13, 2011.

For some reason I couldn't book online I had to call.

You are AWESOME!!!!! Thank you so much!
We rented points for this trip but BWV studios were full for our last night. I didn't want to have to pay rack rate for our last night somewhere when we are leaving so early in the morning. I can live with 69 dollars:cool1:

I too just tried to book it online but the website is having issues. I'll just call in now. Thanks a bunch:goodvibes

I also tried to book online and it wasn't working. Probably just need to work out the kinks for the new offer! I must say this is making me want to do a quick four day trip for the end of august.... Hmmm... So tempting!

Website issues, but here's what I had to do to book online (worked twice):

Delete browsing history, go to disney.com, pull down parks menu. Then click on the "special offers for Disney World" box at the bottom of the page (has a picture of Chip (or Dale). Then the room-only discount link works from there.

I got AKL for $189, and BC club level for $339 for late August.

Depending on the exact circumstances (as always) this offer is not as good as free dining. Now it you have an annual pass, or don't want dining, then it is pretty good.

It begs the question of what the driving force is behind adding a room only discount to the value resorts is. Is bookings down that much. I would have though that even with the shallow recovery we are going through that value would be the easiest rooms to fill.

Also for those who think that staying off site is a good deal, $69 per night is the same as off site @ $83 per night. ($14 per day in parking, and likely $15 before the end of September)

The offer is not just for Values it is for all levels of resorts. The $69 at a value is just an example. Obviously there are only so many rooms available under this promo at any resort level. It's anyones guess how many rooms there are.
Also.. Free Dining in it's last release was not available for these dates. So those who were waiting for that promo were disappointed. This is great news for those who were expecting to pay full rates for this two week time period.
I rented points, which ended up better for us.

Now.. some details about this experience for me. I needed a Saturday night. The rate is higher for Friday and Saturday nights.. but stilll discounted. I got Pop Century for one night for $88.87 including taxes. I was able finally to get the promo to come up online.. but it would only quote me a price that included 2 day tickets. There was no option to remove them. I don't need tickets.
So I called and made a one night room only under this promo with no problems.

Just wanted to include that info for anyone who may be looking for a Friday or Saturday.. or anyone who doesn't need tickets either.

OMG me too! I already wanted to go - this just makes me want to go even more. If only I could convince DH. I'd be willingly to forgo renting a car, to save some money. I'd even go solo but I'm not sure that DH would be okay with that.

Thank you for posting this! I was able to book a package in a moderate. It looks like the discount was 20% off the room rate.

whatever the %, less than $80 for a value for one night pre-cruise is just the ticket!

I checked a few rates for 8/17 to 8/21. BWI was 30% off.

1BR at AKV Kidani was only 25% off.

Per Mousesavers:

Late Summer Savings at Walt Disney World Resorts

Stay dates: 8/14/11-10/1/11. Get a significant discount off regular "Rack" rates at Disney's resorts. Use booking code L29 or O2R. Rates below are for Sunday-Thursday stays: weekend rates are higher. Rates will vary for 9/30/11-10/1/11. Rates not available for all dates and resorts.

Value resorts, standard room, $69
Moderate resorts, standard room, $129
Deluxe resorts, standard room, $189
Deluxe Villa resorts, Studio, $209

Seeing as how the FW cabins fall under the moderate category, do you think I could book one for $129? Seems like an awfully big discount seeing as how rack rate is $270.

You could try but I am pretty sure the rates are always higher for the cabins despite them being listed as a mod. I have never seen them discounted that deeply.

I went and priced them out online and they came out to be $229/night which adds up to not quite 20% off.

I posted this on another thread about this deal, but will again.

It doesn't seem to be as good a deal as the bounceback I booked when I was down there earlier this month. Using the bounceback deal I got a standard room at CSR for Sept 10th-18th for $981.37 ($113.00 for weekends and $106.00 for weeknights). That same type CSR room (standard) for the same Sept 10th-18th dates was $1195.00 ($139.00 for weekends and $129.00 for weeknights) with this deal.

However, just out of curiosity I also checked the price for the same room using the free dining deal. That same standard CSR room for those same dates for a solo traveler with a two day base ticket, came out to $1774.33. That's $792.96 than I'm paying now. I already have my AP, so don't need the 2 day park ticket I priced free dining with, nor do I have any interest in that silly memory book they're making you buy this year in order to get free dining. I was hoping for an AP discount that might beat that Bounceback, but now I don't really think the AP discount will beat it. Compared to this new GP code and the free dining deal, my bounceback deal is looking better and better.:rotfl:

I can get the exact same room for either $981.37 with the bounceback deal, $1195.00 with this current deal, or $1774.33 with the free dining deal. Guess which one I'm going with? lol and I'm still hoping for an AP discount that will beat all three. So much for Disney cutting down on their discounts. lol
