So, here is my situation:

My girlfriend and I are planning our vacation for May of 2012, and we are going to be staying at AS Movies for 4 nights and a 3 day park pass. Since I am at home going to Community College, she is at USF for her schooling, so we don't get to see each other too often. So I would thinking of adding another night to our schedule, but can not think of anything to possibly do for that day. We are in college, so money is tight, but I am trying to think of something nice to give her. Do you think it would be worth adding on another night and maybe spend the day at the pool or DTD?

Our plan right now is
Monday: HS
Tuesday:Hotel/DTD
Wednesday:MK
Thursday:Epcot/AK

If I add another day it would be
M: HS
T: Hotel/DTD
W:MK
TH:Hotel/DTD
F: Epcot/AK

Any input would be appreciated.

Are you planning on doing Epcot and AK on that last day or just one of them? If you plan on doing both in the same day, you'll need park hoppers.

Was going to do both on that day, and yes, I alreay have worked park hoppers into the budget for that day only.

I would skip the park hoppers. I would add another night, and do a AK/hotel day and one full day for epcot. HS is also a 1/2 day park. I don't think you need 2 days at DTD unless you really like to shop. Getting rid of the park hoppers would pay for the extra night.

I have heard that people do HS as a 1/2 day, why is that? Whenever I visit we make it as 1 day.

Well I have a DD7 who doesn't think HS is a half day either but if you skip some of the shows you can make it a 1/2 or 3/4 day just by planning your trip carefully. Also I agree that the park hopper is not worth it and to do one park per day and use the money for an extra night.

and if i may suggest:
M: HS
T: MK
W: Epcot
Th: AK, DTD (AK is easily a 1/2 day park)
Fri: go back to the park of your choice, or hotel since its your last day
Or you can just go with the flow.
a 3 day ticket with park hopper is $287
a 3 day w/out park hopper is $232
that saves you $55 per ticket
4 day w/PH is $298
4 day w/o PH is $243
5 day w/PH is $306
5 day w/o PH is $251
those are the numbers figure out what works best for you and your budget.
have fun!
:yay:

Thanks. I am leaning more and more towards adding the extra night. Since We are only going to get the three day pass, we are doing HS, MK, and have to choose between AK and Epcot, what would you choose??

Epcot definitely!

.... and don't forget a really fun and not too expensive thing to do is the Disney miniature golf courses. No park admission necessary and since one of them is right near the Boardwalk you can check that out (again free!)

Here's a link with more info

Good luck and have a Fantasmic trip!

If you're going to add the extra night, then do what the PP suggested and buy non-hopper tickets but add the extra day to the tickets so you have a day for each park.

Spending $55 each for hoppers when you only plan to hop once really doesn't seem like a practical solution. Buying an extra day on your tickets solves all your problems.

I would add the extra day, and get a 4 day ticket so you can have 1 day at each park.
Really the dif between a 3 & 4 day ticket is $247.08 for a 3 day ticket & $258.80 for a 4 day ticket. That's under $12 more for the extra day of park ticket. I wouldn't bother with hoppers. Just do 1 park a day. For us, we can spend an entire day at each park, no problem!

If you're not planning on getting the Disney Dining Plan, you can save some $ by purchasing your park tickets from Undercover Tourist.

http://www.undercovertourist.com/orlando/attractions/tickets.html Right now, as you can see, UT is having a special, 4 day ticket for the price of a 3 day. These prices incl. tax AND free shipping.

I've used them twice, and they are very reliable, and delivery is very prompt, even to Canada! I was pleasantly surprised :thumbsup2

we usually get through it that quickly, then just go back and ride tower of terror and rockin roller coaster again and wait for fantasmic to start.

Epcot, I think you and your girl would have a better adult time there

I totally agree!! DEFINITELY GO TO EPCOT! You two will have a much better time there. So much more to see!

And i also agree about hoppers, skip them to save $.

:thumbsup2

Well thank you!! I will look into that.

Now the Disney Dining Plan is another thing that is new to me. I have been to Disney multiple times since '91, but have never done the Dining Plan, for those of you who have used it, is it worth the money or would it just be cheaper to not get it?

Check your dates - you may be able to get free QS dinning - then yes it's worth it.

Beyond that it all depends on your eating habits on whether regular DDp is worth it or not. We eat a lot so it's always been worth it - we also enjoy expensive restaurants - but if you like a burger and fries - then QS is where it's at. And if you buy a package then should get it free - but then room and tickets are rack rates.

And do you know where I could check when the free dates are??

on the disney website down near the bottom of the main page is a 'specials' link. Or there's a drop down from the tickets and packages tab at the top - from there you can find the free dinning through sept 2012. just click through to the check availability to see if it works for you.
