Disney Vacation Club - what is it?

I am curious if anyone can give me the detailed scoop on Disney Vacation Club. It is something I would consider, but would love to hear from people who like it...or hate it!

Some starter questions: Does it save money? Where do you stay? Do you lose money? Why is this better (or worse) than just paying for a Disney Resort?

I apologize if this should have been on the Budget Board -- I debated but wasn't sure where it SHOULD go!

There is a whole forum devoted to it. Just scroll to DVC discussion down by the Jump to Forum box. Lots of experts ther to help you. At the top there are some FAQ's that will help with general info.

You never save money with DVC. You wind up going more and more frequently. We have been 13 times since we joined DVC in 1997. We were there in June for two weeks. We're headed back in 9 days, plus we'll be back in January for the Marathon.

We don't have a hotel bill when we use our points, but we still spend lots of money.

Best thing we ever did!
