Disney Vacation Account question

Can someone walk me through getting the bonus money using the vacation account. I've been buying gift cards and adding them to the account. I understand that the money has to be used not just deposited. Do I need to request the bonus money? Is that sent to me automatically? How do I actually get it?

This seemed like it was going to add up to a free $100 for us but now I'm just not sure how to use it.

Mine comes automatically after I've spent $1,000. I'm not sure if that's true for everyone though. Whenever I spend $1,000, I get an email saying my bonus is on the way. When it comes I put it in my DVA

There is a link on my account page that says "request Bonus". It will lead you to another page that allows you to complete the request. I believe the advice is to request 4-6 weeks before travel.

With my first few bonuses I had to request them through the Request Bonus link. The last three times it has been automatic.

If you know you hit your spend for your bonus, I would just go ahead and use the request bonus link and not wait to see if it's going to be automatic.

When I had to request it before, it asks you when you are traveling, I always put in a date about 5 weeks away and got the bonus gift card in about 3 weeks.
