I just found a ridiculous website about Disney Urban Legends.

Look at some of these:

The Legend: Walt Disney released live fireflies in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Behind the Legend: On several occasions, Walt Disney tried to liven up attractions with living creatures. For example, he released fireflies into the Pirates of the Caribbean bayou scene, he put a live owl in the Snow White's Scary Adventures haunted forest, mountain goats lived on the Matterhorn for a short time, and after a particularly intense story session for Alice in Wonderland, he briefly toyed with the idea of filling the Monorail with butterflies. The descendants of the cats that Disney brought in to promote The Aristocats can still be seen throughout the park.

The Legend: Black cats are routinely sacrificed in the Haunted Mansion by Satanic cults while the ride is closed for its annual transformation into Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Behind the Legend: Whether this is literally true or not is a matter of how one defines "routinely," "sacrificed," and "Satanic." For example, if "routinely" means "all the time," "sacrificed" means "more than just tourtured at length," and "Satanic" means something other than "Walt Disney Company upper management," then the statement is false. Also, some of the cats aren't black.

The Legend: The Haunted Mansion closed for a time after a guest suffered a fatal heart attack.

Behind the Legend: The Haunted Mansion is so horribly frightening (particularly the lawnmower scene with its animatronic body parts and rivers of blood) that it has taken the lives of dozens of weak-hearted guests throughout the years. However, the Mansion has never been closed because of one of these deaths -- Disney just increases the "happy haunts" count and keeps on going.

these are from disneyland mind you.

for more of this ridiculousness you can go to

Are the behind the legends real? :confused3

EDIT: OK, after reading more of these...OBVIOUSLY they are not...

EDIT 2: Those get annoying after reading a few...

yeah it's all made up. they are pretty funny. but definately DO get annoying.

i found that site because i was looking for more info about the 'george' ghost in potc. (i heard about it on the 'have you ever gotten stuck on a ride?' board)

found some of these funny like:

The Legend: One of the Three Little Pigs molested a Disneyland guest.

Behind the Legend: This is a very strange legend, particularly considering that the Three Little Pigs are cartoon characters and do not even really exist (the supposed victim could not have been referring to a costumed character, since the Three Little Pigs costumes don't have articulated hands). FYI, the woman who complained that she had been molested by Practical Pig had previously claimed that there were fairies in her purse and that Santa Claus was the father of her son.

The Legend: The Skyway was closed permanently after a guest fell from one of the cabins.

Behind the Legend: Wrong on three accounts: 1) It wasn't closed permanently, it was (in Disneyland's terms) "closed extended -temporarily with intervening uninstallation." 2) He wasn't a guest, but an international industrial espionage agent. 3) He didn't fall, he was pushed.

The Legend: Disneyland is the only man-made object visible from the moon.

Behind the legend: No, you can see the Great Wall of China, too.

the strangest one was...

The Legend: Mickey Mouse never appears at two places in Disneyland at the same time.

Behind the Legend: Can you imagine the confusion of a small child who saw Mickey in his movie barn, exited to see Mickey signing autographs in the gazebo at Toontown's center, and then walked past "it's a small world" to catch a glimpse of Mickey on a float in a passing parade? This used to happen quite a bit, forcing parents to make up ridiculous stories like, "that one's Minnie dressed up like Mickey," or "it's one of Mickey's helpers," or "the characters are just people in costumes." Even so, many children had their blind faith in things that are fun but couldn't possibly be true ruined for life.

Fortunately, in January of 2004 Disney took steps to make sure that this kind of problem can never again arise.

A master computer now coordinates all appearances of Mickey Mouse (and, soon, other Disney characters). If Mickey is appearing in a parade, his meet-and-greet in Toontown is closed. If he's signing autographs in Disney's California Adventure, he's not signing them in Disneyland. And just to make sure that the effect is perfect, the computer ensures that there is enough time between appearances for "Mickey's" supposed travel and costume changes.

Although the system works well, there are still a number of bugs. For example, a family that visited Disneyland in the morning and then hopped on a plane and visited Walt Disney World in the afternoon and saw Mickey in both locations could be told that Mickey simply got on a plane at the same time they did. However, if half of the family went to Disneyland and the other half went to Walt Disney World on the same day and brought home time-indexed videos of their trips that both showed Mickey at around the same time, that explanation would not hold water. For this reason, a plan is being hatched (to be rolled out some time next year) to coordinate Mickey's appearances globally so that he does not appear in two places on the planet simultaneously.

That is only true with cinderella. She will never be seen in any of the parks at the same time. Globably, well I can't say anything about that, but You will never see Cindy in MGM and MK at the same time.

I was actually discussing this with my family the last trip...I kinda wish they DID do that in at least WDW...

Idk, I kinda think it's a GOOD idea...

It's a naturally hot and humid summer day in Orlando, Florida and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World has just opened. The weather is cloudy in California and Disneyland opened three hours ago. Hong Kong and Paris Disneylands are not opened yet.

It is now three o' clock at the Magic Kingdom in WDW and Mickey is getting ready to make his parade debut in the Share A Dream celebration. All Disney's around the world are open.

WDW Cast Member (over the international radio): Nix Mickey Mouse, he is currently prepping for a parade.
DLR Cast Member (over the same radio): Mickey is signing a book right now. Hold back the parade.
HK Cast Member: Mickey is welcoming guests right now as the park just opened.
WDW Cast Member: I can't delay the parade, it is held daily. DLR, tell Mickey to forget the book and HK, Has Mickey said hello yet?
HK Cast Member: Mickey doesn't talk.
WDW Cast Member: Then how the hell do you expect him to greet people? He can wait and wave later.
HK Cast Member: That is a possibility. Instead of a morning greet, Mickey will kick it up a notch and change the tides...a good afternoon greet will be set in order.
DLR Cast Member: Mickey was pulled from Main Street. All is clear here.
HK Cast Member: All clear.
WDW Cast Member: The parade will start in a minute. Mickey is ready. Let the show begin!
(The parade in WDW starts and everyone shares a dream)

A kid in WDW (talking to her mother while on the phone with her grandma): Mommy, grandma is in Paris! She said she is watching the parade like we are here! Mommy she said she just saw Mickey
-- the kid stares blankly as Mickey waves on by in the parade at WDW--
Kid: Mommy...how fast can mice travel? Mommy, Mickey is a she!!!??

WDW Cast Member: We have a kid here crying...about Mickey not being real. Who let the mouse out?!

Paris DL: Sorry, never got the message.

and that is why that won't globally work. but think of that on a smaller scale in wdw with Cindy. She is never in two parks at the same time.

I think that is more because she doesn't exactly fit the scene in MGM, EPCOT or the Animal Kingdom lol... ;)

She'll show up (usually with a parade or something) but she won't be there at the same time as she is anywhwere else.

And knowing this means I talk to CMs waaaay too much. ;)
