Disney upgrading people from AKL to OKW??

I heard on a podcast today that because of the construction at AKL, Disney is calling people to see if they want to upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite at OKW... Has anyone gotten a call/e-mail about this?
I'm worried because I'm staying at AKL for the first time in Sept and I'd rather stay at WL than OKW, but I really Really wanted to stay at AKL

Did they say what time frame they were upgrading for? Is it just for people traveling within the next few weeks or for anyone with a reservation? Ugh..the only real reason we're staying at AKL is to go on the Sunrise Safari. I'm doing a split stay with just 2 nights at AKL. I'm starting to wonder if I should just forget it. Maybe the construction turned out to be a lot more disruptive then they thought it would be.

Was it the podcast for this wk?I started to listen.If this is true there must be alot of open rooms at OKW because disney just upgraded people who were staying at the values during the first wk of FD.

Your okay. The offer for an upgrade is not mandatory, if you dont want it just say no thanks.

That's the week before free dining. Usually a pretty slow time. I have to say I'm pretty nervous.

oh wow, the 2 bedroom at OKW is ENORMOUS!!
1350 square feet......we love staying there....i'd much rather stay in a 2 BR at OKW than in two rooms at the AKL...

If you are talking about AKL it could well be that due to the construction they have only a small portion of rooms available for rent.

Well, construction noise fears caused us to change from AKL king room SV to a one bedroom suite at OKW for our upcoming trip. I was not offered an upgrade, but I proactively upgraded myself. I wasn't about to let anything stand in the way of an awesome vacation this time. Maggie

My hope is all this heavy construction is done by the time of my stay. I just hope if I'm offered an upgrade and don't take it won't mean that they are short on rooms with a great view. That is what I'm looking foreward to the most. Guess I won't know until closer to my stay whether this will be affecting me or not.

Yes, it was Lou Mongello and it was today's podcast.

ITA I hope all the heavy construction is done by the time we get there. I really want AKL and would not take an upgrade to OKW. AKL is my fav Disney resort.

Yeah, I have never stayed on site and all the reviews and such and AKL just took my breath away. Believe it on not my friend (who tries to ruin EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME) told me she only saw one giraffe the whole time. I was sooo excited and she always tries to bring me down.

I wonder if they called me and asked me to upgrade to OKW, if I asked to be transfered to the WL instead, would they do it?
I have no interest in staying at OKW, I'd rather stay at the WL, since it's my favorite
Now I'm really wondering if that call the other day was from Disney.. It was a 407 #, I know no one In Florida, except my Aunt and I know her #, it wasn't her. hmmmm

nope, no call for me yet and my dates are 8/23 to 8/29 at AKL
