I am a Regular Part Time (CR) who, for various sufficient reasons, is no longer a member of the Union. I worked fewer than 600 hours last year, and have no reason to want to go full time or even work more hours.
1) I am now in somewhat the same position as ChesireFigment.
2) Except, I have never belonged to the WDW union.
3) I have been well paid in my past careers.
4) And, my hourly employees were well paid.
5) I can sympathize with the hourly employees at WDW.
6) Especially those with families.
7) If the union would strike, I would find a way to go out, too.
8) Or, at least not increase my hours to make up for strikers.
9) After years of low pay, they do deserve better.
NOTE: If Disney was not doing as well as they are, and not cost-reducing as they are for increased profits, I would not feel this way. I have had to deny my employees raises in tough times, but made it up in good times. OK, so call me freaky but my companies always claimed they were families (like WDW claims the "Disney Family"). If so, then you suffer together and profit together. In fact, in great times, my hourly employees made more in annual bonus than they did in hourly wages.
