as i've already posted, DD and her husband are going to WDW (woo hoo)

i booked a US free dining package for them at POR for november 2014

however, it now seems they may have to put it off until March 2015.

As of now, there is no US free dining package in March, so i was thinking of booking the UK free dining package (which is available for that time period).

i can book them POR and upgrade them from free QS to the TS package

so now my questions.

How does the UK package work?

i see that they have to put down a £100 deposit for them.
is this a non-refundable deposit?

when does she have to pay in full?

and if she cancels, will she get any money back after she pays in full?

does the UK package include cancellation insurance?

do you receive actual park tickets or etickets?

that's all i can think of now.

yes
£50 per person on the booking, non refundable.

when does she have to pay in full?

balance needs to be paid off 56 days out.

and if she cancels, will she get any money back after she pays in full?

depends on when she cancels.

here are the cancellation fees

More than 56 days £50 per person
56-29 days 30% of total booking price
28-15 days 40% of total booking price
14 -5 days 50% of total booking price
Less than 4 days 100% of total booking price

does the UK package include cancellation insurance?

you'll need to look it up here http://www.disneyholidays.co.uk/walt-disney-world/help/terms-conditions/

do you receive actual park tickets or etickets?

no, it's all on MDX, tickets are not valid until the check in date, they are linked on MDX, so no problem for FP+ selection.

Not sure if I can be of much use, from past experience the UK package is hotel plus flights, pretty sure you can book flights at same time as accommodation in most cases (not sure how it works with flights being released 11 months in advance of travel time) or can add them on at a later date. Seemingly though booking your own flights is cheaper. Sure you know how the TS dining then works.

From experience of booking for my trips next April and August the £50 deposit per person is non refundable. We're going as a big party and we had someone pull out, so had to remove them from the booking and that £50 was no more so to speak. Been told we have to pay in full 8 weeks prior to our trip but for packages it's 10 weeks prior to departure. Think the closer you get to your trip the higher the cancellation fee, I thought it was 45 days out no fee and after that increasing fee but I could be wrong.

From the FAQ, I'm guessing cancellation insurance is not included - We are not licensed to sell travel insurance, nor do we recommend a particular insurance product. However, we strongly recommend that you take out insurance to cover the cost of cancellation, including repatriation in the event of accident or illness.

In terms of tickets the Disney UK FAQ says this - For hotel and ticket packages and flight inclusive holidays your travel documents are sent out approximately 14-28 days prior to the departure date. It also states for ticket only bookings it's an e-ticket. We've only booked through a TA before and we received hard tickets, so this is the first time through WDTC but obviously the Magic Bands are a big thing now.

thanks!!
that's cool that the tickets are on MDE...
those cancellation amounts are daunting...the US packages aren't nearly that bad...

well - they're still debating whether they can risk going in november (in terms of their work) or if they should move it to march..

they can still move their flights (they have reward tickets - so they're pretty flexible as long as the seats are available - which they still are for march)..

the package in march will be a bit more than the package in november...
and that cancellation policy makes me nervous...

Beth, for all packages (us & UK) the tickets are now automatically added to MDE as you use the MB to access them. :thumbsup2
