Disney TV at Sears for $29! Better Hurry

I also received a cancellation on my tv. ::MickeyMo But when I got home from work I found a message from the manager I had spoke with at our local store when I tried to hurry up and get a tv picked up last sunday. He said to come into tomorrow and he will honor the ad even though he was aware of the mistake and cancelations. :cool1: Guess I will count my blessings.....

Okay, my order was processed, then cancelled. No big deal. I'd have enjoyed the $29.97 tv, but, what the heck...
Anyway, Sears still has a hold on my debit card even though the cancellation says I had already been credited. Again, no biggie, not an account I use all that much anyway.
Now, HERE'S where it gets interesting. The customer service rep I spoke to at Sears.com (who, by the way, says the hold is now an issue with my bank, not with Sears @@), when asked about the cancellation e-mail's counter-offer to purchase the TV at its correct price of $149.99, stated the Mickey Mouse IS available - that the website merely indicated it was out of stock due to the pricing error!!!!
So - can somebody please explain to me why they could make THIS adjustment on the website but they couldn't FIX THE PRICE for three days????????????

OK, here goes.......

Time to correct error on website - holiday weekend - Columbus Day.

I am amazed how many are willing to go to lengths to take advantage of what is a very publicized error. How many stores are people driving to to attempt to get these tvs?

The reintroduced threat of law suits is nothing more than an attempt at bullying. The company has admitted errors were made and has enforced the disclaimer on the website.

Yes, the best way to force a change is to stop shopping with that company. Be sure to research all of the business interests that Sears still operates and avoid all of the companies. Telling a company that you are making a major purchase($50,000. on tvs) but are taking your business elsewhere is an attempt to bully Sears into selling you the tv at the acknowledged erroneous price.

Face it, it looked too good to be true and it was!

!
I hear some ones high horse calling for oats!!

OK, I think we have taken thi far enough. If you were wronged by Sears somehow by a lie (the CC denied thing), fine, shop elsewhere. Money is being retruned, no one ended up in the hospital over it. Relax, Its a TV people.

I don't get why some who aren't involved at all (who didn't order a TV) need to chime in with "Face it" "too good to be true" "taken this far enough" "get over it".

I just don't get why you care enough to post! :confused3 What do you care?

The cancellations started Monday didn't they? Many who ordered Saturday and Sunday thought it was a closeout price, NOT obviously an error.

For the most part, the problem isn't not getting the TV, it's the customer service, get it?

I DID order one, it was cancelled and I recieved my refund.

Was it too good to be true? Maybee, I dunno. My point is, is it worth all the effort?

Although, I must admit, its been a pretty good soap opera to follow...or train wreck, you decide.

Excuse me but my telling Sears about the $50,000.00 was in no way an attempt to get the tv for $29.97. That is a dead issue. The fact that Sears lied is not. I thought that Sears might want to to know that because of their poor businness practices they lost the chance to make a good sale. It was not meant as a threat merely to inform.

I am not threatening to sue Sears -if you read and comprehended the statement it says my son said they opened themselves to a lawsuit because they were dishonest when telling customers that their credit cards were declined.

Order some of the free popcorn and sit back and read the rest of this thread because it is going to be a hoot for a long time. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I ordered some the last time it was free a few months ago and YUM the chocolate one is delicious! Oprah has good taste! ;)

I just may have to order some so I won't feel so bad about the TV incident! Oh, I forgot to tell you that I kept my DH filled in on all of this and when my order was canceled Monday, he came home with a 20 inch TV for me with the DVD/VHS combo from Target. What a sweetie pie. So really I did get my TV after all but Target got DH's money!

I think we should live and let live and be nice to each other. There's no need to jump in with your words of wisdom. People will do what they need to do regardless of what anyone says. I just don't see the point.

Wow, It is nice to know that stating an opinion is only ok if you support one side of this thread. Floods, earthquakes, civil wars, disease and the highest priority is getting a $30.00 tv?

Those who didn't buy tvs will be affected by this! Can you foresee higher retail prices should the store be fined?

While I don't think Sears handled this well, it is interesting to see such "friendly, good natured" discussion here :rotfl2: .

 Whatever. Go right ahead and say whatever you want just as I will. Just don't see what the purpose is to tell those upset what to do and how to feel. They aren't going to listen to you but go right ahead.

We were affected by Hurricanne Katrina which is the primary reason I hoped to get the tvs for what I thought was a clearance price. It cost a fortune to evacuate, found out because of a glitch with insurance that we had no homeowners, etc.
Integrity or the lack of is a factor in life just like earthquakes, civil war, disease, etc. It doesn't mean that a lack of integrity should be excused. If Sears is fined it's not our fault it's theirs for improper behavior. If they do raise their prices, people will shop elsewhere.Because of their behavior the reaction will be long-reaching and possibly long-lasting.

This is fun!! :rotfl:

:umbrella: Earlier on this thread were posts encouraging people to voice displeasure with Sears and to do the American thing and be heard. Just doing my part and expressing my opinion. I'm not perfect and I'm proud to say it! We can all agree that we don't agree on what is the correct resolution for this issue. To solidify the point that the error was exploited, go to EBAY and see how many of these tvs are available currently. No, not everyone intended to abuse the sale, but a few ruined it for others who did not willingly know that it was an error. :umbrella:

I'm sorry but this isnt another of those "some of the greedy ones ruined it for everyone" situations that so many on here like to post. The ones who bought to sell on ebay had nothing to do with this and how Sears handled it. While I dont agree with them buying to resell I dont believe for one minute they had anything to do with the end result here

My problem with the Ebay thing was that Sears specifically stated in the response from the BBB that " In the case of the aforementioned television, many orders were placed, but all were cancelled." I for one do not believe all were cancelled because of the many available on Ebay. Sears just needs to be honest and admit that they did sell some. They really don't seem to care how many customers they tick off. Go figure :confused3

Perhaps they are a tad bit angry that they didn't get in on the deal!

I find it amazing how some people like to preach - and we know how honest the preachers are!! Maybe they oughta get off they high horses and have some fun with us down here!! I suppose if there ever was an error at a store in their favor they went back to the store to get that extra charge on their account - YEAH!

I got in on the deal and don't feel guilty because a year ago Sears came to my house to service my frig, said the compressor was going and I should just get a new one. The trip was less than 5 mins and cost $75 (of course they gave me a coupon for $50 off a new frig which I took to Home Depot who honored it!). So if they can charge me $75 for 5 mins I'll take a $150 tv for $30 (I got it Sat am before we knew it was an error, but still would have tried to get one even if I knew it was an error).

Stores constantly take advantage of the consumer, you know, those salespeople lurking around the large appliances!! The mark-up on merchandise is huge and who's paying it - us. The CEO's of these companies are making millions of dollars while their companies are going downhill and we the consumer pays the price. So, if we prefer to take our money else where then we should be able to, whatever the reason, without being chastised. It's called freedom of choice.

Very well put! :teeth:
