Are all Sears set up differently or what? I see where all these people got stopped when they tried to pick up their TV's but at my Sears there wasn't anyone around. I scanned my print-off, swiped my CC and out came a man in overals with my new TV.

I think these people actually went and took a TV off the sales floor.

I got the same e-mail from the BBB this morning. My e-mail states that Sears has until 10/17 to respond or further action will be taken....

I also don't think much will come of this, but it will go on Sears' record

yep, just checked my cc and sears did not credit my account yet. does any one know when they credit accounts?

I would hope it would be quick, but they do tell you that credits can take up to two billing cycles. I have never had one take more than a few day. In this case, I would call the CC company and explain the problem. Maybe they can speed it up. If you don't get your credit before the next bill, call and put the Sears bill in dispute. You will need to get the CC company to send you a form (it must be in writing by law) that you then return. At that time it is in dispute and they will go to Sears to see if it is legit. While in dispute you don't pay the bill or accrue interest.

I understand it taking a bit if you actually returned something, but when they cancel your order, they should process right away!!!

How many of us have not yet recieved their cancelation e-mail? I have not and Sears web-site still shows my order as processed, to be picked up on October 25. Are they really this slow? The charge showed up on my credit card today.

I didn't know if anything would happen either,so I went to www.ftc.gov this morning and did a search on Sears for curiosity's sake. Well,I found out that Sears has been in trouble with the FTC before. It wasn't with a case like this one so I won't print the details but if anyone wants to see it just do what I did.
It made me feel a bit better to see a follow up to a complaint.

My order status shows the exact same thing. It's still showing processed and that it is expected in the store on Oct. 25. A rep at Sears.com told me today that it won't show cancelled, because it's not due for pickup yet, but that--on the store's end--it shows cancelled. :confused3

At any rate, the refund could take a few days to show up on your CC account (both my CC company and Sears told me this).

My order still says processed and I am supposed to pick up today, so right now I am waiting for a cancellation email or a pick up email.

What a fiasco!

I wouldn't wait for the pick up e-mail. Several people have been able to take a printout of their confirmation e-mail to the store and get the TVs. It just depends on the individual store.

My credit card was billed yesterday, I also got a cancellation email yesterday. My date to pick-up is today, so I just called the store and they said they have them in stock(they did ot on the day I ordered). So I am going to go and see what happens. My order status still says processing. I'll update later today.

I just got a cancellation from mine that was ordered on Sunday, although when I go to the website it still says processed. I filed by BBB compaint.

Curious - Has anyone called their local newspaper and/or TV station?

I understand, but no need to fret. You will never pay for it or pay any interest. IF is does show up on your statement, put it in dispute. I have put items in dispute before and always had them removed by my CC company.

I wanted to share my cancellation email with everyone...it made me laugh. They must be frazzled over at Sears since they can't even get this right. The following is posted verbatim from the e-mail I received:

"Thank you for your order with sears.com.

Unfortunately, your order for the 1 with sears.com has been cancelled due to an error with the advertised sale price. The cancellation of yourJack Tran order is in accordance with our liability restrictions listed within our 19 in. Color TV, Classic Mfr. Model #: DT1900-C terms and conditions on our site. Your account has been credited in the amount of $29.97 . The correct sale price for this item is $149.99. If you still wish to purchase this item for the correct sales price, please contact us directly at 1-800-349-4358 for personal assistance in placing a new order. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. "

Oh boy. I didn't read this whole thread but I have another Sears story for y'all. A few years ago DH decided he wanted to take up woodworking as a hobby. He bought a bunch of stuff online from Sears for in-store pickup with our debit card because we were trying to get rid of the credit cards. Well, according the the computer it said everything he wanted was in the local store so he clicked to confirm the order. At that point something went wrong and it said he couldn't get half the stuff in the local store, so he decided to cancel the order and just go to the store and buy the stuff with the debit card. Of course the online charge went through instantly and the in-store charge went through instantly, but the credit for the cancelled order took 5 days. Meanwhile 3 checks bounced. Lovely. Lesson #1: ALWAYS use a credit card online and let the credit card company deal with the hassle. Borrow their $ for 5 days, not our mortgage payment.

Read the Terms/Conditions found at the bottom of any page on sears.com and you will find this:

If your credit card has been charged for the purchase and your order is canceled, Sears shall promptly issue a credit to your credit card. If you are otherwise unsatisfied with your purchase, you may return it to Sears. Please see our Return/Cancellation Policy.

I've been holding my thoughts since I learned that this was a pricing error on sears.com and wanted to confirm something before I posted. I spoke with the manager of our online store about this situation (I work for a dept store, not Sears), speaking without naming retailers or the type of merchandise offered. He says legally the retailer can cancel the sale if there is an error (see Terms/Conditions for Sears above).

Generally speaking however, if you go high enough in the chain of command, an offer is usually made made to appease the customer by sell one of the items at the reduced/erroneous cost.

Not to say that it was right or wrong or that each customer is entitled to any item with an error at the time of purchase, because I see both points of view. Please remember that there are humans behind the computers. Errors will always be a possibility, though retailers do there best to keep them under control.

The fact that the incorrect price displayed over the weekend was most of the problem. I'm sure it wasn't reported or recognized quickly by Sears to enable correction immediately, plus other factors may have caused the delay that didn't allow the website to be updated sooner.

I'm sorry that you feel you were wronged if your order was canceled. According to Sears TOS they did nothing wrong. Your refund will post shortly (remember it was a holiday weekend and sometimes refund can take weeks to post) To those of you who were able to claim a tv, congratulations. I hope it brings you many years of enjoyment.

"No need to fret"

I am not so low on money that this is going to kill me, but I have started Christmas shopping for my four kids and this coming out of my bank account does bother me because there might be something that comes up that I will not buy until my money is back in my account.
