Disney TV at Sears for $29! Better Hurry

I went right to Sears yesterday and took a copy of the advertized price.... They honored it and I got the TV..

i understand about Sears having their disclaimers, but it is not buisness like to lie to customers about their cc being declined and orders that been placed online that were not placed when they have conf.#

or what about Sears already charged the tv on the cc and have not credited the cc back.

That is a great idea! I'm going to try that!

Well said momxx5. I ordered one of these TVs but I am not outrageously upset that I won't get it. I am a bit disappointed but life will go on. It does say in the terms and conditions on Sears.com's web site that they reserve the right to not honor pricing errors. Those may not be the exact words but that is the gist of it. I do think that it is wrong that they are still allowing you to add the TV to your cart at $29.97 though. Overall I am not impressed with the Sears web site anyway. Their shipping charges are exorbitant and APO/FPO orders have to be shipped via USPS so we do not qualify for their free shipping rebates even when they offer them. I am sorry that this deal did not work out for most people. At first I honestly thought that it was just a really great closeout price. Mistakes do happen, though, and sometimes you just have to let it go.

Wouldn't count on it...I called and asked if they honor their on-line prices and the manager told me yes, but not for the Disney Mickey TV. Good Luck...ley us know if you get it.

I got an email saying my cc was declined. I have good credit and there was no reason for it to be declined so I called my cc company and was told that a charge from Sears for $36.97 (I was getting the service plan) was received and authorized by by cc company. They could not find ANY charges I had that had been declined.

I just got an email stating that my tv is ready for pick up. I guess I'll be giving it a try. But I won't be too upset if it doesn't work out as it's quite obvious a mistake. Yes, they should have fixed it on their website Saturday but I'm just not going to sweat it if it doesn't work out.

Just wish I didn't have to get it with my girls. I was hoping to give it for Christmas! My I'll bring a blanket like someone else did...

edited to add more info.... well, good thing I didn't leave to go get it! I got another email several minutes later telling me the store didn't have inventory and that my order was cancelled AND I just got off the phone with the store. They called me to tell me my order was canceled because they do not have any in stock and that it was an internet pricing error and not the correc price anyway.

Oh well.

FYI to those having trouble retrieving their orders:

Are you using the link from your confirmation e-mail? When I tried to retrieve my order through that e-mail link, I got the same "no order" message. I had to go directly to Sears.com to look up my order.

It is quite obvious that Sears made an error. A 19 inch TV for $29. Everyone here knows its a great "too good to be true" price.

Now, I can see wanting to get the TV because it is a great deal. Heck, my DS has wanted a TV of his own for over 4 yrs. Looking at this price, his birthday being next weekend, I was thinking "sure lets get him one".
Although I have 5 kids, it would never dawn on me to buy all 5 kids a TV. At that great price, I'd be lucky to say I got one. I certainly would not be greedy to buy more than one.

Also, because it was an obvious mistake, I would not be up in arms about Sears cancelling the transaction. I doubt that selling hundreds of TVs at 1/4th the price is a "drop in the bucket" for Sears or any other department store. Also, going to the store to look for "some stupid salesperson" in hopes they don't catch it.....well that just seems wrong.

Those who were able to get it at the deal - good for you!! You got lucky!!! Those who did not, sorry... but I don't think Sears intentionally tried to ruin your day. I can't see how calling a TV station, etc because you are upset is really going to help anything.

Most of you are probably aware that this was an error and are trying to take advantage of the deal. How would you feel if you make a mistake and someone was trying to take advantage of you? I mean a lot of you sell on Ebay.

Anyway, nothing against taking advantage of a great deal, but to be so upset over an obvious error, taking it that personally, and trying to take advantage........well it just doesn't seem right.

When I placed my order early Saturday morning it stated that there were 40ish in stock and the number kept decreasing, so I assumed that this was a clearanced item, not a price mistake. I think they should honor the original quantity - that seems only the right thing to do. Now if they haven't corrected the price mistake in 3 days - that is their problem.

I had ordered 2. One early Saturday to be mailed and one yesterday to be picked up. When I put in the order number of the 1st one it comes back not able to retrieve. I called my credit card company and the charge is in there. I called Sears and they said they are in the process of canceling orders and mine has been canceled. So I asked when my credit will go through. They said in the next day or 2. Apparently it's real easy for the charge to go through but it has to be taken out manually (gee, what a surprise!).

The 2nd one I ordered says it's being processed and should be ready for pick up 10/28. That charge has been applied to my credit card also. I didn't ask about that, I'll wait until I hear from them. They have not sent me emails saying either one has been cancelled.

I picked up 2 in 2 different stores. My sister just wanted one for her daughter (she ordered one to be delivered to). Hopefully 1 of the 3 will come through. Seems like Sears is wise to this now though.

Good luck to everyone!! I may contact BBB just to add to the numbers!!

Lori

I placed an order for 2 of them last night, my order says Processed and pick up date is 10-14-05. No cancellation yet. You would think that they would fix thier website by now, they still show for $29.

This is a copy of the letter I filed online with the BBB. The web address that I had success with is www.bbb.com. One of the pages will ask for the Sears location, type in Hoffman,Illinois and click on the Sears.com address. This is where the corporate offices are located.

On Saturday,September 8,2005 ,I noticed in Sears.com that a 19" Disney tv had been marked down to 29.99. On Sunday,I decided to purchase the item. Now, Sears is saying that they will not honor the advertised price.
This is a copy of my receipt.I charged it to my Mastercard. Why if it was a mistake did Sears continue to have the misleading ad on their website? It is still there now as of 9:09 am October 10,2005.

They just gave my order the "your credit card has been declined" story....

Jerks....Nothing is wrong with our credit other than we were trying to use it at Sears.

You ordered 7 of them?

Perhaps they really did run out because so many of us were buying multiples.
