I heard there was a game show type event on board, does anyone know how they choose the participants, or even any general info would be great.

We've played Disney Mania on each of the cruises. It is held in Studio Sea, and they pick contestants from the audience (an adult and a child make a team). They basically pick whoever screams the loudest and jumps up the most. My husband and daughter were picked on the last 2 of 3 cruises. One time they won!

They used to have a game show on board in the theme of Who Want to be a Millionaire but instead was titled Who Wants to be a Mousketeer....is was just like the game show on TV but all the questions were Disney related...company, movie, parks, resorts, etc. No sure if they still have that. It used to be held one night in the Walt Disney Theatre on the 7 day cruises and was a lot of fun. Contestants were picked randomly by seat number via computer and the on stage "panel" was based on enthusiasm.

Mickey Mania is held in Studio Sea and is comprised of a different segments....one segment you have to identify a scrambled Disney Character that they slowly put into focus on the TV screens...who ever identifies them first wins that segment. Then there is a segment called "What Happens Next" when they show a clip of a Disney movie on the TV screens and then stop the clip and ask..what happens next. Sorry, but I forgot what the last segment is.

Then there is also a Disney Trivia game that a CM asks about 20 disney related questions (you answer on a piece of paper provided) and whatever team get the most correct gets a medallion that say "I am a Winner"! That could be held in Studio Sea also, or sometimes in the Promenade lounge...doesn't last more than 30 minutes and you can have as many on your "team" as you want. Look for all info of times and place in the daily Navigator.

There is also a Disney Tunes trivia game held in the Promanade lounge where they have a piano player play lines of different songs and then you have to guess the name, artist and movie

Ooh! I want to play this game! I'll have to look for it when we go in 3 weeks!

We were on the Magic just last week. My son and I got to be in Who wants to be a Mouseketeer (and won!) :woohoo:

Here's how that game worked: Everyone walking through the doors was handed a slip of paper with a number on it. Once the game started, a computer randomly chose a number. If the number belonged to a child, they could bring up a parent (and a parent could bring up a child.) I think during the span of time Mouseketeer took up, there was time for about 6 contestant teams. There were only five questions of increasing difficulty, and two lifelines. When we got through all the questions and won, we got two pins and a glass etching of the show logo. People who weren't able to get through all the questions got two pins and something else I can't remember.

One little tip about something that bothered me a touch (and seeing that the OP is from San Diego, this may be of interest) some of the questions asked are specific to Disney World only, so if you've only been to Disneyland, you may find yourself at a disadvantage.

It was fun to do and my son was WAY excited about being a contestant and getting that pin!

It is fab! I did it on my own in May and managed to come 3rd. Not too bad seeing as all the other teams had at least 3 people in!

Glad to hear that are still doing some version of the game....could you please tell me where it was held...was it in Studio Sea or the Walt Disney Theatre? Sounds like they scaled it down a bit. The other set that had was just like the TV show...pretty cool!!!

Hi MMouse, Mouseketeer was in Studio Sea and the room was pretty full. I don't know what the original mouseketeer set looked like, but they did have the two stools and computer screens like on the TV show. I heard a rumor that Mouseketeer was going to be fazed out soon, but I don't know if that's true or not.
