Disney trip without daughter???

OP, I understand your concern. DH & I just booked a quick getaway to celebrate our 20th anniversary at the AKL. Our DS18 won't mind, but our DD11 LOVES the AKL and has never stayed there before. Every time we go to Boma, she has us wander the grounds and look at the pool. We, too, haven't gone away without the kids for over 13 years. I'm excited and nervous at the same time!:guilty:

Feel guilty ? Are you kidding? DH and I went two years ago (this weekend, in fact) to celebrate our 17th anniversary. We had a great time....no one whining about riding a certain ride, no one complaining that they don't want to eat at whatever resturant. It was great! :cutie:

I have booked a trip for my husband and I in Oct. It is a surprise for our
15th wedding anniversary and my husbands 40th b-day. I was wondering if anyone has left child/ren at home? Was it still fun? Did you have "the guilt?" I am just having second thoughts... convince me it's OK!!! :goodvibes

We definitely think it's OK--even recommended--to go to WDW without kids and have a fantastic time being grown-ups in the happiest place on earth! ;)

Have some great meals (we love California Grill, Jiko, Citricos...), take a carriage ride, play some golf, have a couples' massage, order room service, have some champagne on your balcony, take a backstage tour...there's so much to do and explore. Don't feel guilty...kids can sense when their parents are happy and in love, and vacations alone together can help keep that genuine. (Just my humble opinion, of course... :cloud9:)

Most every parent out there will certainly have some guilt. That's to be expected. However, any couple needs a little one-on-one time. After all, it's not like you make these trips all the time, right? You're celebrating a wonderful anniversary - have a great time and bring your daughter home a nice Disney gift.

We went last September for our 10th anniversary without the kids and had a BLAST! We did deluxe dining, ate at signature restaurants, and did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour to name the highlights. We even sat out on our balcony uninterrupted (GASP!!) As much as I love going with the kids, this trip was WONDERFUL! I would do it again in a heartbeat. Go and have fun!!

Nope - We have never taken a trip without our kids when we go together. To us, life is too short not to spend with them every moment we can. Wouldn't feel right for us to be somewhere without them. To us - being there with our kids is just the best and we can't imagine it without them. I'm already sad that DD is going off to college in another year. She better be able to still go with us,lol.

I hear you Melanie -- My oldest is now 9 and my little one is almost 7. Soon he won't be this little cute guy anymore. And it just as much time as my oldest has been around, he'll be an adult. In fact, in about 5 more years he probably won't want so much attention from Mom and Dad. Savioring these moments.:lovestruc
