Disney Trip Insurance/ Cancellation ?????

Has anybody ever had to cancel or reschedule a trip and had to use the Disney Trip Insurance????

I'm thinking that we don't need to purchase it, because we have full medical insurance coverage already. Baggage and flight delays, I'm willing to take a chance on. The only thing that I would be worried about is if one of my DS's or someone should get sick prior to leaving and us needing to reschedule the trip. From all of the info on the disney site, I can't tell if this is even covered for sure....and if it was, the cost to me.

Anybody know Disney's cancellation policy if you don't have insurance????

I have never bought it but I am kind of considering it mainly because of DD school schedule (in case it changes for state testing).

I never bought insurance ... until the BLIZZARD OF 2006 almost killed my WDW trip (after a loooonnnggg time planning!). We ended up DRIVING the morning the snow started and 13 hours later made it to WDW (we did spend the night somewhere). Lucky for us the Airline gave us another trip (they were NON-REFUNDABLE tickets) with no cancellation fee since the EAST was paralyzed!!! Since this was the SECOND BLIZZARD DH and I were caught in, I've decided insurance is for me.

I know 2 people now who have had to use it for sickness before a cruise. It just makes me feel better having it.

We had to cancel a trip the day before we would have arrived. I called Disney and explained the family medical emergency and they could not have been more helpful. They canceled the hotel package and refunded it immediately. They cancelled all my ADRs - even the Hoop-Dee-Doo, with less than 24 hours notice, no penalty.

Then they called back about 5 minutes later to let me know it had all been done. The staff member that called even said that she hoped my father would pull through and get well soon.

The airlines have to refund all but $50 (or was $100?) per ticket, by law.

I get trip insurance now. You never know when you'll get the call that one of your parents may be dying.
