Disney tree house villas ????

This is the best news I've heard in a long time. Spent many a trip in those villas, have great memories as a kid there.

Back in the day we used to spend all day swimming in the river outside the Treehouse Villas (Sassagoula). Oh how times have changed...lol

This may have been mentioned....but if you play golf at LBV, you can basically walk right up to the the tree house villas....they still remained furnished with the pirate ship beds and all.....Hurrican Charlie did some serious damage, with some villas actually having trees leaning on them....I love these spots...the first time I played LBV they where still open and remeber people watching through the sliding doors as we played

I, too was on a boat from French Quarter to Downtown when the CM stated Disney was renovating the Treetop Villas and would be open for guests shortly. We could also see some of the exchange program students living in the bungalows. This was in late March, 2008.

Screamscape posted some photos today showing that demolition has begun on the old structures.

I was in disney for hurrican charlie and played on LBV course during that week...that damage was fairly significant trees where leaning against the houses, and many roofs where damaged.

I think the tree house viila revitalization is fantaqstic, it is aunique way to experience disney, and I would love to spend a week there

Hi, I'm new to this board. I heard they were going to be refurbished also. I found this board because I just purchased some production art that was hanging on the walls of some of these treehouses. I've heard of these treehouses but I have never stayed there.........they look cool though. I met a nurse at a clinic I work at in Lakeland who somehow has a connection. Apparently, all the decorative interior of these treehouses are being taken out, as we speak, and being sold to Disney employees. My nurse friend was able to go to one of these sales and was able to purchase, thru her connection, some of the production art that adorned the walls of some of the treehouse units. Im not sure if anyone on here can remember how the treehouses were decorated, but what I just purchased actually hung on the walls. I bought 2. Both are original, numbered, production art drawings that are set in a rustic framed mirror. Basically, its a big rustic wood framed mirror with production art put on the mirror with glass over it............its kind of odd....but unique. I was wondering if anyone remembers seeing these on the walls when they stayed there. One of them I bought has 2 drawings of mickey and the other is all 7 dwarfs and that one is signed by the artist/animator. I'll post a pic of one if you want.

Heres a video link of the interiors of the villas taken by an international CM while staying there.....

I know that last spring they had International College Program students living there. I drove a girl home there (I was doing the CP but living elsewhere). It was totally overgrown and dark (kinda creepy!) but I did get to go inside and check the place out. It was pretty old, but neat to be there! :goodvibes

any updates to this? Will the villas become part of SSR?
I have heard this rumor a few times, but can't for the life of me figure why it would be part of SSR.

I mean, how do you tie those two very different themes into one resort?...

I figure it'll either have to be part of OKW or SSR ... SSR is easier to match the theme I would think, no?

I think someone posted some diagrams of the land that may have indicated that the area is designated as part of the SSR land area or something like that. Whether it is actually DVD/DVC property I don't know.

Regardless of whatever documentation there may be NOW, Disney can always change it anyways.

Not that I'd mind having another option at SSR :)
