Disney Travel Asking AKL reserv. to Move!!!

I will call back and see about GF,POL or the villas at wilderness. the transportation with the SSR is the main issue.
also called the AKL direct and they said noise will be from 9am to 5pm.
will have to call reservation back and see.
what type of rooms at the others do you recommend?
Lori

Ooh go with the 1 bedroom at the WL. This is so way beyond camping! :rotfl: I will say that it is a different flavor decoration. The rooms are done in burgundies, greens and wood tone so some folks think it's dark. The lobby is absolutely stunning, jaw droppingly so. The view from most of the rooms in the villas are of woods (the villas were made after the lodge) which I found very pretty. I would sit on the balcony before every one got up and have a cup of coffee before the day started. I also think the landscaping keeps it a little cooler in the summer.
The poly is on the monorail line though, you cannot beat that for easy transportation. I've never stayed at the GF with my kids so don't know how kid friendly it is. I've had a character meal there and its pretty.

Once again I'd probably go with the 1 bedroom due to the space, the kids will also have a tv with a vcr in the living room, so if you and your hubby aren't beat at the end of the day, you can get in some serious snuggle time and not disturb the kids sleeping.
P.S. You get a jacuzzi bath tub!

My 2 cents is ---- You booked a Deluxe with a view ---- for a reason --- I would want Deluxe as a re-placement --- I do understand about why they are doing it --- But they need to upgrade you 1 above -- Concierge -- etc :cutie:

I think an upgrade to a DVC is a lot better than 3 kids in any hotel room
.

I don't agree at all, but everyone has their opinion on what is best for "their families".

I have 3 kids, and I'd prefer a deluxe Disney resort room over either OKW or SSR. I might have to think twice about DVC located adjacent to a deluxe resort - that might give me the same deluxe feel/amenities with the extras of laundry and kitchen. I'd consider only DVC's attached to a deluxe resort. The SSR and OKW remind me of a "condo complex" and that doesn't give me the Disney magic. Please, no flames - this is just my opinion.

well you booked a savannah room so a lagoon view or theme park view at an MK resort wouldnt be bad. I hope you find something your family will be happy with.

I would request a deluxe with a view since you had a savannah view. The Polynesian would be my first choice. Rooms are huge and you have monorail access. Request a lagoon or MK view. Good luck!

ok, just got off the phone with disney travel! WOW! they said that only SSR was available at the moment to offer! UHH NOOOOOOOOOO I do not think so. So they said they will call back this afternoon to see what they could do for me. geesh this does not seem very disney like. so I am waiting for a call
oh and the lady I spoke to said there was goingto be a ton of noise!
Lori

The OP was offered SSR with a $600 refund. During free dining Disney is upgrading some value guests to SSR.

My guess is SSR has availability. I'd be surprised if the OP will get the $600 credit if they get moved to the POLY, or any other deluxe hotel. I wouldn't be shocked if Disney just says NO and finds another guest to move.

The danger is if the OP gets walked when he shows up at AKL. The deal might not even be as good as what's being offered now.

edited to say I saw the OP's most recent post. I'd just stay with AKL. Let them move other guests.

on the phone with them currently. they will not offer discounts besides SSR. NOW WHAT!!!!!!!

Lori

I would be really dissappointed with a move to SSR. Not to offend anyone, but I would rather be close to a park than DD. (I know I'm usually at OKW, but it's kind of removed from DD) Maybe they could move you to the Poly, and not refund the $600?? Or a one bedroom at WLV. Anyway, I hope things work out for you.

I took the upgrade. We were booked with pool view at AKL. We moved to SSR and are getting about a $1k credit. I didn't want to chance staying at the AKL and not having all the "magic." They ran out of studios (2 of us) and are giving us a 1-bedroom (July 8-16th).

Unfortunately it sounds like they aren't being flexible. Have you looked into the price difference for booking VWL, Poly or GF directly? Perhaps they could leave the pricing of your reservation the same but move you to one of these resorts?

We are switching currently to the poly!!! and now her computer is going wacky. first it was a $1050.69c difference to us now it is a $700 more to switch!! She just put me on hold she is confused!!

I have to say, I'd be pretty ticked about this. I would not choose SSR over AKL regardless of how many bedrooms they offer. There is no way. They should offer something comparable!!! At the very least they should offer you WL. Grrrrr Keep us posted!!!

Well I hope you get it worked out and get the Poly. :wizard:

I've stayed at AKL a couple of times and would've taken the offer of SSR and the $$ and run with it (guess you could say, been there, done that, not thrilled). You are closer to the parks staying at SSR than you are at AKL (except for the AK). The accommodations are much better at SSR than at AKL. Not sure if they offered you a studio or 1-bedroom (since you have a toddler), but if it was either, I would not have hesitated. Let us know how this turns out. I heard that the construction at AKL/DVC is going so well, they are ahead of schedule.
