You will love the POLY I would want a MK view as you did have e view before!!! hey why not... but either way the resort is great you will love it!

You will love the Poly------ Have them fax you or tomarrow go on Disney web and make sure they have made the switch for the correct date - place # of people -etc-- I went May 3 4 5 & 6, 2007 they had me one day at Grand Flor .they said it wasn't a problem to move Resorts-- **Excuse me it was not what I booked -I had to talk to 4 reps & Manger to get me at Poly (like I was to be at in the 1 st place )Had a GardenView --you will "Love it so much" You will never stay anywhere but their ...:cutie:

Yep your situation worked out great.

I'm so scared they might move me when I check in. ha-ha. I'll go crazy and demand 100 percent refund.

You're smart cause you won't be troubled once you arrive, and really you went to a resort that is beautiful, incredibly beautiful. You can even watch the MK fireworks from the beach right at the Poly. It is one of the absolute best resorts!!!

It was stressful this morning. thank goodness all of you are here!
The "no Hassles Pass" is I guess epcot has fireworks everynight and we meet somewhere and get on a boat for VIP seating in the boat for the fireworks.

Wow, that awesome sounds like an illuminations cruise...??? Very nice.:goodvibes

Are you sure your Epcot VIP pass is on a boat? We had these in Feb it was at the area of the Friendship boat dock at Morrocco. We didn't get on a boat just were able to walk up at 8:45 & have an standing area set aside for VIP viewing. They also have one over in Italy.

.

I don't agree at all, but everyone has their opinion on what is best for "their families".

I have 3 kids, and I'd prefer a deluxe Disney resort room over either OKW or SSR. I might have to think twice about DVC located adjacent to a deluxe resort - that might give me the same deluxe feel/amenities with the extras of laundry and kitchen. I'd consider only DVC's attached to a deluxe resort. The SSR and OKW remind me of a "condo complex" and that doesn't give me the Disney magic. Please, no flames - this is just my opinion.

I agree. I would not want to stay at SSR or OKW either. They are very much like condo complexes and that's not everyones idea of a "deluxe" vacation. I know there are plenty of die-hard fans of these resorts. If I were the OP, I'd request a move to another deluxe with a view-BC/YC, BWI, POLY, CR.

Just read that the OP is staying at the POLY. I'm sure they'll have a great time. :goodvibes

I love AKL but I have also lived through construction of the BWV while we were there. Yes it was VERY noisy. Naps were a nightmare. So take a 1BR villa or another deluxe if they will give it to you. Just my 2 cents worth.

Just read through all this. CONGRATS!!! On the poly. You got a great deal. AKL is my favorite resort but not with construction. You will love the monorail and the poly location with the little ones.

she is swtiching us the the polynesian.///// no discount the same... I yelled a little and all she can through in is a no hassle firworks display at epcot!!!
oh and it is a graden view room.
any thoughts?

Lori

Way to go!!! You will have a great time. I never stayed at the Poly but always wanted to. I will next year though. I'm so glad things worked out for you. Have a great trip!!! SSR looks beautiful but I'd be sooo disappointed after I had booked at AKL.

Edited to add: If I had a choice, I'd pick the Poly over AKL. So in my eyes, you did good!

I think you really lucked out and will be quite happy with the Poly! Especially with small children...
The restaurants are good, and the staff is very friendly, we found. I've only stayed once but we want to go back.
And, by the way, you got a great deal money-wise!!!

:scared: I'm kinda freaking out! I'm leaving for the AKL lodge tomorrow!! I reserved a standard-concierge level room. I was told it would be on the 4th floor!! I'm really starting to worry about the construction now, it sounds like it's everywhere. Is anybody staying at the AKL?? I'm beginning to think it's going to be deserted. :confused3

I hope you have a wonderful trip.:tink::wizard:

I think we did get a great deal. I know we got a better $ eschange as far as where we are staying. If we had settled for the SSR with 3 small kids after the AKL I think we all would have been unhappy! :rotfl2: But now I think this is turning out ot be better. called disney dining to see about having a dinner at the hotel at ohana's now that we are staying there and they are all booked while we are there. hopefully when we check in they can do something for us!

call them now!!!!!!!!! I was told this morning that florrs 4, 5 and 6 are closed as of yesterday!!!

Lori

I'm wondering if the fireworks pass, is just a pass to stand in this one area near Morrocco. I'd rather be in the Cantina, the smoke usually drifts towards Morrocco.

Congratulations. You will love the Polynesian. I would still politely ask for a lagoon view at check-in after going through this. Researching and planning for one resort for over a year to find out 16 days beforehand that you have to change? I must say you are handling this quite well. The Polynesian GV is definitely an upgrade. I love the Polynesian and SSR but I think you definitely made the right decision for your situation.

'Ohana has a character breakfast you may want to try if you can't get in for dinner. Also, Chef Mickey's is only a monorail ride away!

Sounds like you have lots of research to do on the Polynesian in a short period of time! After you thoroughly research the resort, make sure you put in your longhouse request. You may not get your request but it increases your odds. Also, determine if you prefer a first floor patio or a balcony. If you want a balcony, request third floor or "not second flooor" because the second floor does not have a balcony in some of the longhouses. There is a torch lighting ceremony at 6 PM. Electrical Magical Water Parade every night that you can watch from the beach. Awesome view of the castle from the beach where you can also watch Wishes. I tried to post tikiman's website for you but it did not post correctly. Maybe someoe else can post it for you. If noot, Google polynesian tikiman and it will pull up a site for tikiman 2001. It is one of the best dedicated resort sites I have seen.

Happy planning and have a wonderful vacation!

Sorry...didn't read all the way to the end of the thread...I was being redundant!!
IGNORE this post! :)

Wow I am so glad we changed our ressie to BC! We were in AKL to begin with and I ended up getting a discount so we switched to BC. I felt bad about it at first because this was supposed to be a trip for DD (AKL is her dream resort) but with all the construction I think we made the right decision. I think it is great that you got Poly because I definately do not see SSR as a good deal.
