Disney Transportation

A park hopper ticket entitles you to use Disney Transport between parks.

Not trying to start a heated debate here, but doesn't Walt Disney World advertise Disney Transport Buses as being exclusive to Walt Disney World Hotel guests, or did they use to advertise like that?

A very LONG time ago SOME bus drivers would ask to see resort ID's to board resort busses. Now with so many parkhoppers and people eating at the great resort restaraunts Disney transport is for any type of Disney guest.

In 20+ trips, I've never seen them ask for the passes or resort ID on a bus or monorail. I've never heard that they were exclusive. They don't want to discourage you from going to a resort to eat or shop. They do advertise that Magical Express is exclusive to WDW resort guests.

I have mentioned this before when it comes to that & I am going to say the same answer again. Some people on these boards have said when boarding a Disney Transport Bus they were asked to show their Resort ID cards, well my family & I have been staying on site since May of 1998 & we have never been asked to our Resort ID cards. Even on a like Christmas Day as an example.

We were asked for our resort ID years ago, probably in 1995 or so.

When I said a LONG time ago I meant it, 1970's through probably the mid to late 80's it was fairly common. As Disney got bigger and bigger it just became too hard to "police" who was using the busses. I saw someone say they've never seen it in their 20+ visits, if I had to guess I'd say I have over
100 visits(3 to 4/year since 1972)

I have never heard Disney advertizing the transportation system as being exclusive to the on-site Guests. They do tout it in advertizing litterature, but never as an exclusive perk.

If they ever did restrict the transportation system to on-site Guests, it was before my first trip, which was August of 1990.

These days, the WDW transportation system is totally unrestricted. In 16 trips over 15 years, both on-site and off-site, I have never been asked for any sort of ID or park pass to board a bus, boat, or monorail, nor have I ever seen anyone else asked for ID. A few folks post on the boards once in a while that they were asked to show resort ID to board a bus, but those incidents are so few, and so far between, that they stick out like a lighthouse in the fog.

Besides, even if you are asked, all you have to do is show a park-hopper pass, which makes you elligable to use the transportation system, and you're golden.

I believe it is advertised that if you have any form of park pass, you are entitled to use the transportation. I've been going since '99, and have never been asked for any ID. If I remember correctly though, we were told at our checkin at DxL (now POR) that we may need our room IDs for the transportation, so it may have been in the process of being phased out then.
