If we are visiting a WDW Park, but staying off-site, can we use the monorail, buses etc. to park-hop or visit the resorts for a meal? Is there a charge to use the transportation?

I am aware that we will need to pay parking at $8 per day.

My boys would love the monorail!!

The transportation is free once you're inside the 'world' if you park at the transport and ticket centre for instance you can get the monorail to the MK, Epcot, Poly and contemporary resorts, the ferry boat goes to the MK as well and there are busses to all other parks and resorts. If you park for instance at Animal kingdom its a bus connection to all other resorts, and if you park at down town disney where I believe the parking is free you can get busses to all resorts from there and then change to a park bus. does that make sense?

Although parking at DTD is free, to get to the parks from there via a resort can be a very time consuming journey!

It could be as long as 2 hours+ allowing for waiting time at DTD and then waiting time at the resort!

For the sake of $8 per day parking I wouldn't bother!

If your boys would love the monorail ask if you can sit up front with the driver for a loop of the monorail. We did this the first day of our last trip on the MK and Epcot loop and had a great time, we got lots of great pictures from there too.

The monorail is great fun :thumbsup2

May I also recommend the boats that go from the "back" entrance of Epcot to MGM? They offer a pleasant ride and a lovely view of all the Epcot resorts (as well as getting you from Epcot to MGM or vice versa!)
