I will be bringing a scooter for my elderly mother who can sit or stand for long periods of time.

1. I understand the bus system is the only way to get anywhere except MK. From pick-up point to destination - how long is the trip?

Fort to Epcot
Fort to MK
etc.

2. In addition to the bus to you have to use the MOnorail and transfer?

3. Do all the boats to MK take scooters?

4. Does she have to wait in a special line at the rides? If so, can we stay with her or how does that work.

I'm certainly no expert on Disney transportation but have been doing a little research for myself (using a wheelchair). FW to MK - I'm using the boat. FW to Epcot - I'm driving and parking (for free) In handicap spaces. I'll probably drive to everywhere except MK. I just don't want to deal with the buses. I believe all the boats can take wheelchairs or scooter.

There are usually special lines for wheelchairs (scooters) and you can stay with her. The cast members will direct you where to go.

I can't post the link to it - but there is a good blog with lots of information. It's called Disney on Wheels. You should be able to google it.

Good luck!

1. FW to MK by boat: 15 minutes; FW to other parks by bus: unsure as I normally drive to the other parks, but about 20-30 minutes once you are on the bus, some may be shorter by a bit; FW to MK by bus: Take a bus to WL then transfer to a bus to MK

2. If you want to take a longer route to Epcotfrom FW, the. you could take a boat to MK or Contempory where you could transfer to a monorail to the TTC and then transfer to the monorail to Epcot

3. I am not 100% sure if all the boat launches are able to accomadate the EVCs. I know the larger motor lauch can, but I amnot sure about the smaller launches. These I thought required a step, but these may be a different boat I am thinking about.

4. Many lines are mainstreamed so there may not be a separate line. Some attractions have those using mobility aids stay in the main line until a certain point. The person with the mobility aid along with 5 others may stay and ride with that person. Check out: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guests-with-disabilities/. There are disability guides along the rightside of the page a bit down that gives you details on how to proceed in each line. You can pick up these at the guest relations locations at each park as well.

You might want to check out the FAQs sticky at the top of the Disabilities forum. It helped me immensely when I took my sister back to WDW once she had to start using rollators and wheelchairs.

all buses take scooters but can rent them from outside vendor and they will deliver and it will be at the resort when you arrive and then you leave it with bell services and they pick it up. is many you can call and but we use walkers and it saves my own form getting beat up. we stay two weeks and it cost around 300

The smaller launches do not take scooters (are too small, also there is a step-down).

Most ride lines are stream-lined for scooters now, so very few exceptions.

No, you do not have to transfer from buses to monorail - they will take you to the parks.

Have a pixiedust: trip!

. . . Do all the boats to MK take scooters? . . .

1) The launches
. . . one must climb over the gunnel
. . . a scooter cannot be taken on these boats
2) The Friendships
. . . im most cases, scooters can be accomodated
. . . if the water is too low or too high, the ramp cannot be used
. . . with no ramp between dock/boat, scooters cannot be used
3) The Ferries
. . . all ferries have sufficient ramps for scooters
4) Rental boats
. . . only rental pontoons can take scooters

For clarification to those not familiar,

The Friendships are probably the big boats that leave the LEFT side of the FW dock (as you are standing on it) which typically run to the MK and back (maybe with a stop at Wilderness Lodge). Think of them as the group limo. :joker:

The Launches are the smaller boats (similar in size to the Jungle Cruise boats) that run between FW, WL, the Contemporary. They run off the RIGHT side of the FW dock. Think of them as little run-abouts. pirate:

Scupper, if I got it wrong please let me know.
