We will be using Disney transportation exclusively for our trip in January (mostly busses). How difficult is it to carry your stroller with you on the busses.....or is there a place underneath for them? We have deluxe version of an umbrella stroller that doesn't fold very small....already my DH is having fits about bringing it along.

On the buses that run internally, ie from park to resorts, there is no place underneath to store them. You need to carry them on the bus with you, folded up.

(ME buses do have a space underneath for the strollers and other things.)

Not sure how old your child is, but it might be worthwhile to buy a cheap umbrella stroller to bring on your trip. Larger ones can become a pain after a while.

We've brought the full size strollers before and they take up a whole seat or enough room for a whole person. They are also harder to carry on the buses, esp when people are already seated...I was always afraid of hitting someone with it. Plus they are heavy. We've also used the smaller strollers too and they can also be cumbersome for many of the same reasons.

We now have a Mac, which is great. It folds up as small as an umbrella stroller and we can fit it between DH & myself in the seats. It's very light to carry. It also has a strap for carrying in on my shoulder so I can grab anything else that needs holding (toddler, shopping bags, etc :) ) I know there are cheaper umbrella types that also have this feature.

We only used Disney transportation last year which worked fine for us but we had a Chicco umbrella stroller that folded up and had a carrying strap. I noticed people with larger strollers struggling to get them on the bus and then find a place to put them.

We took two Combi Travel Savvy strollers with us which fold up super small and have carrying straps. They were ideal for the busses because they were tiny enough to hold a kid on your lap and the stroller in front of you. They also recline fully and have sun shades. They worked beautifully!

Your husband is right to want to worry. Just make sure your stroller is easy to fold, reasonably small when folded, and not to heavy. We bought cheap, no frills umbrella strollers for our trips when the kids were small. Maybe twenty bucks a piece.

I can tell you from exp. do not take the big luggy strollers. The very first time we went to Disney with our dd ( 11 mo old at the time ) we took the big 20 something pound stroller. My DH did not have a good time. He felt as if he was the pack mule the whole trip. I had no idea that it would be such a burden. I promised him from then on we would have a small stroller. We now have a Mac Volo. It has the strap, and is 9lbs. I would suggest for your hubbys sake get a small stroller.

hth :goodvibes

I would say the big full size stroller is worth bringing if you are travelling with an infant. Once they are 9+ months or so then a smaller one becomes more reasonable but if you are travelling with a REALLY little one, it may very well be worth the hassle of a bigger stroller on the busses for the baby to have something familiar and comfortable to sleep in during the day. I've had a sleep anywhere anytime without complaint baby and a needs comfort and familiarity to sleep baby. If we had been travelling with DS #2 as an infant, I'd much rather have lugged a heavy stroller with full recline, cushy seat and good canopy around on the busses than had a smaller, lightweight Mac type umbrella with a partial recline. We're going with that philosophy in January. we will have a Mac Volo with a kiddy board on back for our older boys but have a big full size stroller that is a little smaller than a travel system and about 19 lbs for baby (who will be 3.5 - 4 months at the time). We're staying on the monorail so we only have to go on the busses to MGM and AK and we have a half day at MGM and 2/3 day at AK so that is 8 bus rides. We'd rather deal with the bulk for those rides than risk a fussy baby. Other than that we will be on the monorail so we can roll right on not folding the stroller at all. :) Being mid January, I'm also counting on the fact that the busses won't be too crowded as well.

In general a nice umbrella fold is easier but I think there are times where bulky is worth it. Of course my personal feeling is that any stroller is a pain in the tush on the busses or trams but it is a neccisary evil so we just deal with it and don't stress about it. I've been smacked by a stroller hung on someone's shoulder (like a Volo) more than once on the busses and at that time, I'd much preferred the person to have had a big 'ole Graco travel system held in front of them than their lightweight umbrella behind them whee they are paying no attention to who is behind them and if they are smacking you with it. :lol (and I'm a volo owner/user too so nothing against those at all...just people who don't pay attention which is not every stroller owner/pusher ;) ).

We took our Peg Perego P3 and exclusively used the Disney transportation. We had no problems. There were even times when we could store it under the seats.
