Myself and my 9 yr old son are leaving for WDW on Aug 28th for 5 days. I am a Disney virgin and have no idea what to expect. So far it has been extremely complicated and I have to say I am not looking forward to the trip. I am hoping that the trip is a lot less stressful than it was to plan the 5 days there. My son loves Harry Potter and so I have told him that we can go to IOA for one day. My question is.....What is the best way to get from WDW to Universal? We are staying at Port Orleans-French Quarter.
Any tips would be helpful and VERY appreciated.

We always use Mears. They charge $19.00 round trip/person. You can either pick up the vouchers at the Mears desk in the airport when you first arrive in Orlando or wait and call the day before you want to go to Universal. The Mears desk is right next to the DME desk. If you do get the vouchers beforehand at the airport, you can pay cash or use a credit card. The vouchers can be used any day. Just call Mears the day before you want to go to Universal and arrange a pick up time. When the van driver arrives give him your voucher, he'll tear off 1/3 and give you 2/3's. About an hour before you're ready to leave Universal give Mears a call to arrange a pick up time. Give the driver the voucher again and he'll tear off another 1/3 and give you the final 1/3 for your receipt. The $19.00 does not include gratuity of course.

If you don't want to get the vouchers at the airport, you can just call Mears the day before you want to go to Universal and arrange a pick up time. When the driver arrives you'll have to give him exact cash though. He will not be able to take a credit card. The process is the same though. About an hour before you get ready to leave Universal, give Mears another call for a pick up time. The Mears number is: 407-423-5566.

We've used them several times and have never had a problem. They may make a stop or two at another resort, but if they do, it just takes a few minutes. We've always arrived at Univeral well before opening.

We are comming from Europe to Disney, so we don't have a cell phone.

How can we call Mears, when we are at Universal???

(at Disney I can use the room phone, or can the Conierge give them a call?)!

We take a taxi from the disney property. It is about $35-40 each way. Nice and simple. There is taxis always at the disney resorts and lots at universal to take you back. No schedules or booking... nice and easy. :)

The best tip I can offer is to relax.

You will not see everything on a 5 day trip. It cannot be done, so don't even try.

Don't stress. Enjoy ever moment with your child and make some great memories.

While there are a lot of folks on the boards who plan, plan, plan and "attack" the theme parks, commando style, you'll find that it's not really necessary.

Just try to get to the parks before they open, see what you can see, (take a break for the little one),and enjoy!
