Hi Everyone!
We're headed to Disney in 2 weeks, and since we are also avid Harry Potter fans, we were wondering what the best way to get from our Disney resort (animal kingdom) to Universal for a day would be?

I've seen prices on cabs that seem a bit outrageous, so was hoping for cheaper advice.
Any suggestions?
:confused3

Taxi is about $50 oneway, we took a Taxi last year to return to AKL from Universal, there were 6 of us so it was fairly cost effective. We usually get the Ticket and Transport option from
www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/universal/
You can book the Mears Shuttle bus without the ticket option, if you already have your tickets, it runs about $16 per person
Using Public Transport would be my last choice, transfers are involved and it can take well over an hour, one way www.golynx.com

We do have a stickied thread up top...Transportation to US/IoA. It has a ton of good info. I will say that I have used the Mears shuttle several times with great results. I have also used the DU ticket/transport pkg as well....good deal.

We always use the Mears shuttle. It now costs $19.00 r/t per person--not including the tip of course (it was $18.00 r/t last year). I go to WDW several times a year and also have an AP for Universal as well, so go over there usually at least four times a year using the Mears shuttle. We've never had a problem or complaint and they have always gotten us there well before park opening. You just call the night before to get a pick up time and then about a couple of hours before you are ready to go back to WDW, give them another call for a pick up time back.

Thank you all for your help! I will look into the Mears shuttle- that seems like the best (and cheapest) bet.
I didn't realize that there was a large thread dedicated to this topic- I'm sorry! I guess I'm not very good at navigating the DIS yet.

Thanks again!

How many of you are going?

There is also a shuttle from Shades of Green to US that is $10/pp RT. I have not checked to see how often it runs or whether you need to have a DOD ID to utilize it, but for $10, it's worth checking into.

There is??? I ask simply because the last two times I used the Mears shuttle over to US/IoA, the bus stopped at SoG either going to or returning from US/IoA.
In any case....if a guest wanted to do that, they would have to get themselves to SoG..which can be a pain. Or would cost them for a cab. Much easier to just book the Mears shuttle right from their resort.

I saw it advertised on the SOG website; no other information other than cost was provided. Given the Mears shuttle stops at SOG, I would assume that Mears simply offers a discount to those staying at SOG, or that SOG funds the transfer with MWR funds.

Although it could also be that people didn't see the transfer advertised and booked with Mears directly; another possibility is this is new, as I hadn't noticed it before but also hadn't been looking.

Not necessarily cost effective for small groups who aren't staying at SOG; but for very large groups, $9/pp can add up fairly quickly when compared with the agitation of transferring from one resort to a park to another resort. Assuming the rate is available to the general public.
