'Disney to start testing Metal Detectors' at theme parks

This will do little to increase security at the parks at all. But it will make entry longer for the guests and give the appearance that the parks arent safe as they now need to search all guests who enter.
If the parks had a probelm this"may be able to be justified" but as the current system has worked well there is no reason at the current time to change procedures.
Someone letting off a bomb at DTD will get just as much world wide exposure because it happened on wdw property. Or does one think a car bomb at that location would just be ignored because it didnt happen at the castle in MK???

it is so sad that in this day & age metal detectors almost seem like the norm for getting in & out of places. i'm sorry but the longer they take to get to disneyworld the happier i'll be. imagine trying to get into the happiest place on earth but before that could happen having to take off your belt buckle & shoes...very sad...

Can you think of anything more magical than walking through a metal detector to start your day at The Happiest Place On Earth?

We can't let paranoia rule our lives.

Do all the CM's have to go through security to enter the parks for work? What about maintenance, food service, contractors, etc?

We were just there and went to TL. In the past someone has always "looked" in our cooler. Not this year ... I just walked in.

I agree, that if someone is determined to do something, it wouldn't be difficut.

From one of the CM's at CRO- the Govt was looking for a Guinea pig and Disney offered to test this for the Govt.

Do not know if this is going to stay, but for now it is a test for the Govt.:sunny:

Well, I hope the new version of "It's a Small World" is NOT a husky Eastern Bloc woman with a latex glove.

Your right it is best to just don't do anything. Maybe they should even have an express line entrance for those with weapons.

"Maybe if the metal detectors work, we can start frisking people too. Maybe some strip searches, or some body cavity searches would do the trick"

Hmmmmmm... sounds like Tigger is already on the job!

Like there's been such a flood of shooting incidents at Disney World.

This is getting a little far from our original topic (which has been beaten to death already), so maybe we'd all best move on to other subjects...
