Disney ticket prices are to go up to $67 and change. This so they can have it in the 2007 brochures.

That is a 22% increase since 2004.

That is definately a hike. Just because I know someone will respond to you by saying "Well other parks charge the same amount, Carowinds, Six Flags, Kings Dominion, etc, all charge high amounts".

I agree, except Disney is a more intensive vacation. I can go to Six Flags for a day and spend the same amount or MORE than one day at Disney, but over the course of a week vacation, my Disney vacation costs more. Most go to Disney for a vacation, not a day or weekend trip.

I think as someone said in another post, they have shareholders, and stakeholders, and they have an obligation to make the profits higher when the opportunity arises, so you can't blame them.

However, I think this basically makes it where many will start cutting corners where they can, eating outside the parks, bringing in their own water, staying off property, etc.

ALL entertainment is costly, one reason being it is discretionary income.

We have been making several trips each year to Disney, and have been annual passholders for just as long. But with the second increase in only 7 months, including annual passes, it will make me think long and hard before renewing in February. I love Disney and enjoy our many trips, but it is just becoming so expensive. Between increased ticket prices and gas prices (we live 1000 miles away and it just took us about $400 in gas alone to and from in our minivan a couple of weeks ago) our family of four just may have to figure out a cheaper way to enjoy family vacations. Listen up Disney: Families only have so much money, and you are pricing yourselves out of a lot of vacations. What would Walt say?

I agree with much of what you say. Unfortunately, they have to report to shareholders (such as myself). As a shareholder and true Disney fan, I'd rather still see them focus on the families more than the bottom line (in some situation), but it's just not realistic.

Unfortunately you are right. Middle class families are being classed out of disney in terms of more than ocassional visits. They are now being forced to plan long term to make a trip. I feel that unfortunately in this country, the middle class is being screwed in nearly every single thing, up one side and down the other.

As long as the are putting the money back into the parks then I say go for it. I still think in the long run a trip to WDW is a good value. Will I go every year? Probably not but when I do go I will plan and save where I can.

Our trips to WDW are the only vacations I have been on where I completly ignore everything that is going on in the outside world, forget about work, and just truly relax. This past trip we were on the dining plan so I didn't even have to think about if we could afford to eat here or there because it was already budgeted. We stay onsite and other than a trip to Super Target in Kissimee we don't leave the "magic" the entire time.

Prices are going up on everything...not just WDW. Until we learn to live without foreign oil that is what we are going to have to put up with.

Did the price of an AP increase too? I am buying mine this Dec. and it still says $441.98. Is it higher than that?

When does this increase take effect? Do I need to buy my tickets soon for my Halloween trip?

Supposedly it was announced Friday and went into effect on Sat. It hasn't been confirmed yet whether those who have already booked pkgs that include the MYW tickets but have not yet paid them off, will now be hit w/ the higher prices!! Or whether they are locked in at the lower rate. Who would have thought they'd have 2 price increases in one year!!!!! :confused3 I understand an annual increase??? But this?? :confused3

We're suppose to go back next year w/ friends....I'm beginning to think we won't be back until 2008. We're one of the middle class getting hit from all sides.

I am from the north side of Indianapolis(Westfield area), and I agree with your post 100%! We went in June, and the trip cost us about $3500 total(we flew down to Orlando). We are a family of 4, so the price increases are causing me to second guess going back soon. We are planning another trip in October 2007, but my husband may stay home this time since he is not a big Disney fan like me and the kids. This would save us a little since we don't have to pay for his airfare or his park ticket. I really want to stay at a moderate resort next time, but depends how much airfare will be next year. The way gas prices are going, it may not affordable to go that route!!! I decided to buy my tickets from Ticketmania Saturday before the price increase, so I will have those already. I read another post that Disney is expected to raise prices again in January. They are going to be pricing a lot of people out of Disney since some may not be able to afford it anymore! That is a shame! Oh well, what can we do.... :confused3

Yeah but to the tune of two a year or 22% in 1.5 years! :confused3
