Disney to Palm Island by public transport

My daughter and her friend, both age 20 will be going from Disney to Palm Island near Englewood Fl to visit with her friend's grandparents. Does anyone know if there are public transportation means of doing this? Are they too young to rent a car? DD does not drive; her friend does but I am not sure if he has a credit card.

Amtrak has a train-bus connection thru Tampa to Port Charlotte, which is 25 mi. away.

I don't know if there's any way to get from there to Englewood. Could the grandparents meet them at the bus stop?

Thanks, I'll look into that. If I can get them close, the parents can pick them up.
