Disney to cancel FPs if room is cancelled

Nope, window doesn't open until March, but I figured hey why not try? And now for fun I'll check each day as if there are unpredictable results using MDE (who woulda thunk) I'd like to be on the good side of it for once!

I was hoping too. There was a nice fat 9:05 7DMT with my name on it. If only MDE would have let me hit confirm. Oh well.

So overlapping reservation is the new leading reservation.
Seriously. I feel like it needs more adjectives to be an accurate description...overlapping reservation with a few days head start lol. The (hopefully) unintended consequence of this "upgrade" is the inconvenience to cash pay split stays. Disney is gonna end up with inventory tied up while people book continuous stays concurrent to their split stays just to get the benefits that they used to get by doing an onsite split stay. It seems par for the course that one bandaid seems to open up another bleeder. Its messy.

Those of you who have found your upcoming FP window open early, are you finding this through the app or through the website on a browser (on your phone or on your computer)?

I just schedule 7dmt for May 9th on the app. My window shouldn’t open til March 1st

And just because I'm curious and looking for more data points:
Is it a dvc stay? Cash booking? Split stay?
And do you have a package w/ tickets, tickets purchased separately, or an AP?

And feel free to ignore these questions if you don't want to share that much information. :)

All these reports of windows opening early...this is so crazy (and awesome for those of you benefiting). I think it’s fair to say that this is not what ANY of us expected to see as a result of this supposed change. Disney IT has outdone themselves once again!

I own dvc but this is a cash/cash room only split stay with AP.

Edit: and it only opened 10 days of a twelve day stay (6/6 split)

Okay, forgive me for asking here on page 59, as I'm only trying to understand the disadvantage those with split stays have now. How come the two 60 day windows put you at a disadvantage now? (I understand for some it may be 3 60 day windows) Is it because, for example let's say someone is doing 2 days at the Contemporary and then moving over for 5 days at Yacht Club, and the window opens for the Contemporary. Is it because you will only get a 60 and a 60+1? Then when the Yacht Club window opens you have to start over again, only this time you get 60 going through 60+4. Was it previously the window opened and because there was no gap it rolled and you go 60 all the way through 60+6? So rides like SDD and FoP were guarantees for you guys to where now you're going to have to work a bit harder at it?

I hope I'm understanding correctly. And if I am.....that really is kinda stinky for you guys. :sad2:

Why would you cancel one?

Idea is book for 10 days and a 2nd one for the last 5 days (so overlaps). Use first one to book FP for 60+10 to book hard to get FP for the 2nd 5 days. Then cancel the 10 day one but keep the separate 5 day one and thinking is those FP will stay as still have those days booked in system

Yes, if you had 6 days booked split across 2 resorts you could book all your FP for all 6 days starting on 60 days out from your first check in day. Now you can only do ago for dirst stay then have to do second booking when 60 days out from check in of second stay - even though really one stay just split across 2 resorts

Ouch...that hurts.
