Disney to cancel FPs if room is cancelled

So I just tested it out. I have an AP so I made 3 separate room only reservations.
One split stay scenario
Allstar movies April 23-April 28
Pop April 28 - May 3

One regular reservation
Port Orleans April 23 - May 3

I then went and made a fastpass every day of the reservations.

Next, I cancelled the port Orleans reservation. I was given a warning that my fastpasses would be cancelled.

I checked and none of the fastpasses were cancelled. I signed in and out to be sure. In addition I could modify/add any fastpass for the entire split stay.

Just wanted to try it out. I suppose it may be a loop hole they will change eventually? Or perhaps the system isn’t fully operational yet?

So, I have been continuing to check if the fastpasses are still there and so far they are all there for the entire split stay. The 48 hr Mark will be be around 9:30 tonight. I’ll check again then, and if they are still there I’ll check Monday morning as well to see if anything changes overnight.

Another factual datapoint:

As of this moment, still no FPs have been cancelled due to cancellation of a 'leading reservation'.

Some opinion from me:

Disney made things much worse for legitimate split stay people (like me, I love me some split stays), while doing nothing (so far) to prevent the loophole people here are outraged out.

Unfortunately, this is par for the course with Disney and MDE...
So basically this closes the “leading reservation” loophole for onsite guests, but offsite guests can still take advantage? Makes total sense!

No, at this point it doesn't close anything.**.

** well, the rolling 60 was used by locals and that is now gone. But that was pretty limited in scope.
In your example, the split stay had two different FP booking windows - doesn’t this negate the utility of a leading reservation for onsite guests?

So overlapping reservation is the new leading reservation.

I didn't want to be the one to post it, but yes.

At least at this point, the frustration I feel over this is quite high. They didn't solve any problem or prevent any big loopholes (so far) and meanwhile created massive headaches for people playing by the rules.

Any chance you call ms and ask if they can/will do it for you?
No need to get in touch with MS because:

A. This shows that (at least for DVC), you can book FPs at 60 days for all of a split stay
AND
B. I'll be cancelling the reservations in a couple of days. They were only made to see whether the FPs stay or get dropped.

You know, I was really excited to spend 21 days at all-star music but things fell through at the last minute...

Or... I thought I wanted two rooms for my family. But after thinking about it for 60 days, one room will work. And yeah, something came up and I have two weeks less vacation than I thought.
Bummer that the loophole wasn’t closed all the way, the testing on this thread explained how to do another loophole, and split stayers have been punished because of all these loopholes. Hopefully they close this new one to give justice to the legitimate split stays.

So, to make sure I understand this clearly:

Scenario 1: If I am staying off site but booked a throwaway room for the first night, I will get 60 day FP+ booking for those two days (check in and departure), but the remainder of my trip will only be 30 days. As opposed to the old rolling 60 days .

Scenario 2: if I stay on site, but with a split stay between two resorts (let's say 10 nights split equally), at 60 days from check in I can book all my FP+ for the first 5 nights. But then can't book the remaining 5 days of FP+ until a few days later (60 days from my next "check in"). As opposed to the old way of being able to book your whole trip at once.

Sorry i should have paid closer attention. Thanks.

Unless you're on a DVC split-stay as opposed to cash stay.
