Disney to cancel FPs if room is cancelled

The only fix I can see for this is for Disney to honor the system of allowing 60 day length of stay fp's for split stays, but automatic cancellation of all fp's for the 2nd half (and 3rd, 4th, etc if applicable) if the first part of the split stay is cancelled or shortened. Of course, a 24 hour "grace" period should be in place to allow a re-booking at another onsite resort. Also, if a longer stay is shortened on the front end, then cancel all fp's, and start over again.
From a (albeit potentially misguided) customer service standpoint, disney may have intentionally chosen the path that avoids having to cancel FPs that have already been made.

Agree, that's what it appears they have done.

I was simply suggesting a "fix" for it, so legitimate split stays can still receive the booking benefit.

I had the same thought. Basically giving split stay reservations up to 60 days to make any changes, after that you risk losing fastpasses unless it’s just a resort modification.

So I just tested it out. I have an AP so I made 3 separate room only reservations.
One split stay scenario
Allstar movies April 23-April 28
Pop April 28 - May 3

One regular reservation
Port Orleans April 23 - May 3

I then went and made a fastpass every day of the reservations.

Next, I cancelled the port Orleans reservation. I was given a warning that my fastpasses would be cancelled.

I checked and none of the fastpasses were cancelled. I signed in and out to be sure. In addition I could modify/add any fastpass for the entire split stay.

Just wanted to try it out. I suppose it may be a loop hole they will change eventually? Or perhaps the system isn’t fully operational yet?

Alrighty, it has been over the 48 hour mark since I cancelled the Port Orleans overarching reservation. All fastpasses are still there. I was also able to add and adjust any fastpasses without issues. I’m going to continue to check on them through tomorrow morning just to see if a change in day makes any difference.

I personally feel like because there are other reservation numbers linked to the same days as the fastpasses that are listed, they are sticking. I have a feeling if I made the overarching reservation longer than the split stay...any extra fastpasses not listed on days of resort reservations might get canceled.

I would just add one additional fix:

Allow guests with split stays the option to not link the reservations for FP purposes. The FP window for the 2nd stay would then be separate. But, if the guest cancels the first reservation, FPs for the 2nd reservation would not be cancelled.

See, now this is interesting. If you want the combined FP window, you have to link the reservations and any changes to the date thereafter result in FP cancellation. If you're unsure of your dates and that's part of why you booked the split stay, then you don't get the continuous stay advantage, but you can cancel individual sections without affecting the whole. This sounds like the most satisfying resolution to close the leading/overlapping loophole without penalizing legitimate split stays.

Plus, it wouldn’t be hard to program. FP made greater than 30 days out get flagged with a check in day. As long as there is a continuous resort booking between the flagged check in day and the night before the day of the FP (to allow FP on check out day), the FP is ok.

This alllows for changing resorts. It would also allows modifications to make the resort stay start earlier (just not canceling days for a later start, which is what the worry is).

Adding days at the end would be a non-issue also.

It’s been 48 hours since I cancelled a linked DS hotel reservation (it was cancelled directly with the hotel).

Long story short... nothing happened.

The reservation still appears in MDE. The associated fastpasses are all intact.

I doubt anything will happen until the reservation disappears from MDE. How long do they usually take to disappear?

I would guess that FP cancelations would occur overnight. Easier for them to do these sweeps when the system is less busy.

Is this just a single, room-only reservation? No overlap or split stay?

My window is supposed to open on Tuesday, saw this thread and it is open now.

AND I have a split stay, and it is open for all my days. One night AoA on cash but includes meal plan for one night, so a package (but no tickets), then 5 nights CC on DVC points. Very strange indeed!

When merging to Disney’s FP system, DSprings reservations can take up to 72 hours to be linked and/or reflect any changes.

Keep watching your account and FPs.

Well that seems like it could be a problem? Good Neighbor Hotels being eligible and all, it best not take too long to show the link - as FP should not be cancelled for that??

I have a canceled Swan reservation that has shown in MDE for weeks. I guess I’m going to have to call IT to get it out of there before my FP day so there’s no chance it messes up legit FP for my on site stay. I really despise their IT issues.

I have a canceled Dolphin stay that has been on my account for months. I called in, and the CM assured me it was canceled and said we should be fine. Thank goodness I made FPs weeks ago...

I honestly never gave it a thought until this change. It would absolutely be my luck that they would decide to remove that when we don’t check in and wipe all my booked FP, despite my correct booking being for the exact same dates. That’s how little I trust their IT to work properly.

Wow i missed a lot not visiting the DIS for 24 hours!

So sorry if this has been covered... when are they doing this for ADRs I can’t even get our number 1 reservation at 180+7 for 11 people are anytime. Rather annoying...
