Disney to cancel FPs if room is cancelled

I just read through four pages of what ifs and hypothetical nothingness. I would prefer sticking to factual reports. Maybe we need two threads, one to report facts and one to debate? It’s hard to “ignore” the other non factual discussions when that accounts for 98% of the thread.
I believe thats what the threads in the TPAS forum are for and I'm pretty sure they are discussing this very issue. I'm sure people are reporting actual experiences over there as well and only discussing the pros of "loopholes" as cons are generally not allowed to be discussed over there.

The point I was making was that the information that Disney does this is readily available. When you ask a CM for something you are inherently asking permission. The fastpass loopholes are different in that regard to the water and the photos. No CM is being asked so inherent permission is not being given to use the loopholes.
It's not really readily available. I already explained that.

You used Disney Parks Mom Panel to back up your information that Disney explictly makes it clear those two things were completely ok..except they don't because of their relationship with Disney.

I didn't know about courtsey cups of water were even available (I just assumed it was water fountains only) how would I even know to ask a CM about it much less how in the world is me asking if they have free water asking for permission in the event that the thought even crossed my mind? What permission am I even asking? Same with the PhotoPass.

IDK honestly I don't get your logic nor the asking inherent permission, talking to a CM stuff. Don't even know where that line of thinking is going respectfully..are we supposed to run all our decisions we make on our vacation by a Disney CM? If we don't I guess we're doing something wrong because inherent permission isn't being given?

In any case just providing information that information by Disney Parks Mom Panel should be taken with caution.

i just made fastpass + selections for my trip beginning April 27. i am 62 days out and idk why it let me book the FP+ for my stay already. I have a split stay, but both for AKL. - one night then 6 nights. I booked under 2 different AP promotions. Have they changed the booking window for FP+ ? i know it was 60+ and i was surpised to be able to book the FP+ for my entire trip 4/27-5/4 - wrong forum it think sorry

I think we just have to disagree at this point. I’ve laid out how getting water and getting photos taken are dramatically different since they explicitly involve the consent of a Disney employee. Where the assumption that fastpass loopholes are allowed because you haven’t gotten caught (if against Disney terms which I believe they are) is different. That was my point. The poster I replied to equated the two scenarios, I was showing that equation of the two items are not relevant because of the involvement of a CM in getting the water and photos taken.

Yup we'll agree to disagree :)

Do you have another trip between now and then? Sometimes that opens the window early.

Seems the important part here is that it let you book your FPs for your entire split stay, contrary to what was reportedly being said by phone CMs....

Doing the happy dance for you!!:dancer:

I am glad Disney is working on some of these issues before the opening of SW GE. Unfortunately, I do lots of split stays, and I get caught up in the mess, but oh well. Next trip is split 1/5. (I never would have thought of booking a leading reservation a week earlier, and cancelling it later on. Just, wow.) This will not effect me too much, one day later, I should be ok, not going on a particularly busy week. My split stay trip, the reason is arriving on a Saturday, last night of a high point season, so studio was 28 points. Decided to do cash that arrival night, in a LM room at AoA, before my DVC stay on points, starting Sunday. I like to check in early morning at DVC, better room assignment possible.

I will say that people who book the campsites (every other night now? geez. To get free parking, multiple free magic bands, and a week of early FP+ access while staying offsite) might bug me the most. I understand that they are actually paying for it. Every other night. Doesn't booking that way prevents others from actually using those campsites, especially booking every other night, that would leave the alternate nights likely empty? I think the campsite bookings by offsite guests could be a future target of action.

First 60 day window opens tomorrow!

This is GREAT news and thanks for sharing. Can others who were testing split stay scenarios maybe see if anything has changed on their end (@anomamatt? - not sure of who the others were that were testing things).

EDIT: potentially a false alarm or false report?? :(

Ok we get it. Different people consider different things to be “loopholes” or whatever. Guess what...neither of you are going to change the other side’s opinion! Can we stop arguing over this and just wait for more hard data. At this point we have no proof of an FPs getting cancelled. That’s why I’m still following this thread. I’m not here to a) be educated in loopholes OR b) hear others demonize those that apparently used these loopholes.

And I guess I’m really following this thread as a lover of split stays who is hoping that Disney reverses course on an extremely unfortunate decision there.
Well most people feel a big reason for this move is to eliminate loopholes so the discussion is relevant. Not to mention the fact that most of the DIS threads that discuss loopholes "do not allow to debate if the loophole is allowed", so yea I for one am really happy this thread allows a open discussion about these issues. You can always ignore all of us who are participating in that part of the discussion.
Not that DISboards "likes" are the end all be all when it comes to the overall opinion of the thread...but 16 likes (a comment asking for the arguing to stop) vs 1 (a somewhat opposing comment) seems to indicate that more people are interested in discussing how things are working now and may work vs. arguing over loopholes.

I had to make some reservation changes to re-test this and it seems the FP window isn't instantly updated. Right now it's letting me book for April 23-25th and I don't have a reservation that covers those nights (I did before, but not now). I'll report back once I tinker some more.

I don't think enough of us have said this...but THANK YOU for testing some of this stuff. I know all the "Split Stay Loyalists" really appreciate it as we try to figure out how to navigate this potential new world.

Did you actually make the FPs. I have the same dates you do and I tried as well. It shows my window as open and lets me do everything up until the point where I need to hit Confirm. Then it tells me there is an error and I need to start over.

Also, it only gets that far on Safari. With Chrome and the MDE app, it doesn't show my window open. I bet with all the changes going on, it's causing glitches here and there. I'd keep an eye on those FPs if you were able to actually make them.

Edit:. And now it's gone from all. I did enjoy getting to see that as of today, anyway, there are morning 7DMT available for my 60+1.

Dude you helped de-rail this thread when it was first opened getting it locked, and now you want to just stick to the facts and eliminate all related discussion?

That’s a fair comment :)

Here is a new factual datapoint:

Split stays still do not open the FP window across from them (as of right this minute).

I have two continuous on site stays currently booked: April 25-26. And then April 26-May 6. I can only book FP for April 25 and 26.

Another factual datapoint:

As of this moment, still no FPs have been cancelled due to cancellation of a 'leading reservation'.

Some opinion from me:

Disney made things much worse for legitimate split stay people (like me, I love me some split stays), while doing nothing (so far) to prevent the loophole people here are outraged out.

Unfortunately, this is par for the course with Disney and MDE...

You are welcome, but I'm doing it for selfish reasons... My June trip consists of a 3 segment split stay (AKV, BLT, CCV). The longest segment is 4 nights, so I am kind of freaking out that I won't be able to get FOP/SDD over the span of a 10 night trip. Not a happy thought... I have a little bit of time to figure out contingency plans (maybe CLFP since the AKV stay is CL), but that is paying a lot to get what we used to have for free. Ugh. But anyway, I'm motivated to figure this all out... My other option is to call DVC MS and ask them to book the later days for me once my first 60-day window opens -- I have done this for select ADRs before and they are happy to do it, but it's painful to do over the phone).

You probably mentioned this before, but do you have an AP? I assume you do.
