Disney to buy FOX?

It's just Fox Family, not FOX itself, so I do not think this will make too much of a difference for the theme parks.

No, there will not be power rangers in the parks.
No, this will not affect the parks at all.
FoxFamily is a cable channel that Fox bought from Paxson. It was originally called 'The Family Channel' (remember Maniac Mansion and the new Zorro?) Anyhow, TFC went into debt, and Fox bought it from Paxson (who started PAX TV which is now part of NBC) and made even worse programming decisions, driving the channel further into debt. If Disney buys it, the name will change again, as well as the programming, and (hopefully) it won't fail for a third time. News Corp, 20th Century Fox, etc, are not being sold, only the cable operation (and only one channel, at that).

Not Paxson. Robertson. Pat Robertson, founder and chairman of International Family Entertainment (IFE), corporate parent of the original Family Channel, the now-defunct Fit TV channel, and MTM Productions, sold all of IFE to Fox Kids Worldwide -- jointly owned by Fox and Saban Entertainment -- for $1.9 billion in 1997, with a special deal that allows Robertson's 700 Club, program -- part of Robertson's privately-owned Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) -- to air on the Fox Family Channel (or whatever it becomes now) until 2002.

Speaking of 2002, that's when NBC can buy a 49% stake in Bud Paxson's PAX TV, as set forth in the deal two years ago when the Peacock bought an initial 32% stake in Paxson Communications. NBC is limited to 49% because federal law currently prohibits one company from owning a majority share in two broadcast networks...

Oh good grief!! Eisner doesn't know how to put up a decent park in California, he buys a third-place network (ABC), and now he's going to buy Fox Family? Sorry, because of the association with Pat Robertson and his 700 Club, this really offends me. Not to mention the 3.3 billion dollars. Oh well, that's probably just a few years' worth of bonuses......
