We're planning a trip to WDW second week of June and perhaps going on to Key West. KW seems very pricey at least $200ish or more a night (if lower some have resort fees that then run it up to $200 anyway). Should we bite the bullet and stay in KW or look in Key Largo, Homestead, or Miami. Can we get the "feel" of KW making a day trip? It's 127 miles from Homestead and about 61 miles from Key Largo and then there's the return trip back near dark/night. Need some advice. Thanks

As an added note since I have several possible ideas, we may just go and stay on the Atlantic Coast instead. Just me and DH. We have one week for this trip...so it's either 3 nights at WDW and go see other parts of Florida or 6-7 nights at WDW. NO tickets and we're only doing the ASMusic. We are down there for family and not going into the parks. And this is a budget trip...trying to get in as much for as little $$$ as possible. Ideas????

If you are not going to the parks why would you choose ASmusic? There are much better hotels in the Orlando area for the price. You will not get the same feeling being on key west if you stay in Miami. If you want the key west feeling stay in key west. If you want the Miami feel stay in Miami but Miami is not a cheap place. Don't expect to pay less than $200 for a decent hotel. What are your plans while you are in Orlando ? Perhaps a trip to Disney vero beach resort will be good for a couple of nights. I love the keys and I think everyone should experience it at least once.

With only a week, I think I would stay at Bonnet Creek and then do a couple nights on Siesta Key.

Driving all the way to Key West is far for only a night or two. I think I would save that for another trip.

If you definitely want the Atlantic coast, there is a Holiday Inn on the beach in Vero Beach that isn't too far from Disney.

Have a great trip wherever you wind up!

Key West and budget are hard to use in the same sentence, but worth every penny! I love that place. pirate:
